While I have two Stoeger doubles... plus a couple of others... they'd most likely be the LAST choice I'd grab outta the safe is I needed a self-defense gun. Two shots would hopefully be ALL I'd need... but wouldn't be all that I'd want available. Don't care HOW FAST I can reload!

Joe... I know you live in the Land of Lincoln (aka: land of rabid anti-hunting, gun liberal legislators), but Wally-World around most parts of the nation carry Federal .30-30s. Last I bought WAS a couple of years ago... but they were $11.94/20. Reasonable, but nothing to brag about... but $24.99!!!!...

I don't think so. But... then I filed and bent the front sight on my Colt SAA so it would shoot my load to point of aim. The 'smith that rebuilt it after the 1st ¼ million rounds reshaped and reset it so it shot to POA with a factory contour.

My clones all sport bent and filed sights. :wink:

Well... I couldn't very well say the .44 Magnum of BP guns... the .44 Walker Colt holds that distinction! And, the .45 Colt with 38grains of 3F behind a 250 boolit is nothing to sneeze at! :twisted:

Is the 32-20 ammo sold as CASS loads lower pressure than other factory ammo? Looking at Hodgdon's data, I gotta agree... Lil'Gun gives the highest velocity at the lowest pressure. Winch 296 or H-110 would be good alternates.

I didn't realize there was another type of revolver other than a single action. :o :mrgreen: It's not big feat to load either round with a 250 gr+ bullet to 900 or 1000 fps. I can't tell any difference in accuracy or effectiveness on targets down range from either cartridge. Just pick the first one...
