Whatever I shot best with. And for standard wheelguns, , probably a 4" barrel, but a snub can work. Here are two I'd prefer, (fixed sights work too).

LOL, yup lots of "good" choices, some are better at specific jobs. For me, the little five shot J frames are tied for "my one and only" handgun simply because they can always be concealed. A good snub or 4" K frame .357 would also work for me. Any of these would be comfortin...

And the right grips can make a big difference. I had to try several different styles before figuring out what grips I like on my 640-1 (always gun).

I have to guess they did it because of the 16" barrel.In any case, I like the 16" pistol caliber Levers, and especially that combination of crescent stock, fore end, and octagon barrel.

The "regular" Trappers are favorites too.

How I deal with this:

1. Stay away from anyplace where I can touch or feel a gun I don't already own.

2. Go shooting at the range, preferably with a kid.

Regarding the original question, my current load is low recoil Winchester slugs, because I shoot those out to 25 yards regulary at the range, and home has two 20 yard stretches - I'm comfortable with how these group within this distance. And as posted earlier, I consider this to be a special purpose...

Absolutely. We have some of my Grand Aunt's cookbooks and several receipes for eggnogs. Drinking fresh eggnog, a good fire, a good meal, some fresh snow, and shooting Levers & revolvers is a great way to spend any day.
