I don't understand your need to ditch the 357mag. Is it a case of needing money or is it just a desire to par down and concentrate on fewer calibers? Hands down receiver mounted peeps are the most practical in my opinion. Not if you are trying to overcome the effects of poor eyesight. Welcome! Leverguns were designed for iron sights, be they buckhorn barrel mounted, receiver peeps, or tang mounted. A scope on a levergun is really out of place in my book and really makes for an ugly carry handle.

Looks like about $51 from Numrich Gun Parts, however, they are currently out of stock.

You could also call our own 'Nate' (actually Steve) of Steve's Gunz and see if either he has one or a Rossi repo hammer will work.

Replacing a duplicate is a breeze that you can do yourself.

44mags and 357mag leverguns love Hodgdon H110 powder. It's the best slow burning powder to give you max velocities from your levergun. Be sure to use a magnum primer and you'll be set.

Look at the chart below and you'll note that the .44 mag in a levergun actually has more recoil energy than a 170grn 30-30. As others have said, if she wants to hunt with a levergun, then your wife is really looking for something in the .357 mag range, however, that will restrict her to under 100yd ...

Yep the M1 Carbine is much better than a handgun but comparing it's 110grn bullet at 1950fps (929lb/ft ME) to my .357mag Rossi carbine's 158grn bullet at 1825fps (1,164lb/ft ME) makes it a simple call as the Rossi has significantly more ME (25% more) which is why it's a tossup for me in a HD role. Dillon spray lube is what I've been using for years and I'm really happy with it. I resize, decap, and trim my .223 brass in 1,000 case batches. On the other hand, Hornady One Shot is problematic for most people who try it.
