I've seen them in gun shows in California for 900.00 to a 1000.00 in the last two or so years.Felt like I stoled mine 400.00 +.Every once in a while they show up at places like Cabela's.I have never seen one that was mint.

You may want to keep an eye on your local Big 5 Sporting goods store ads as they often have the Savage w/scope for under your budget.Just remember tax and all the added Calif stuff for your total :oops: .They also do Lay-away.Scope won't be great but just to get you started.

Guess it may end up being what I grab first but the mini 14 is the plan with me along with a browning high power and 1897 pump shot gun.rbmcmjr that is a nice safn 1949-you can use m14 stripper clips for that.
