Re: SEARS headstamp?????????
Hiawatha is definitely a Gambles private label. I collect old outboards and have owned several Hiawatha motors, built by OMC's private label brander, Gale.
Found a web page on shotshell headstamps and it appears that Hawthorne was used by Monkey Wards.

Re: Unusual .30-30 loads.
I'd be happy to sell each of you one box of hardball and one of soft point. Send me your address(s) and I'll get them moving this weekend. I'm a truck driver and work a crazy schedule through the week but luckily I'm off on the weekend. You can send me a check when you get them.

Re: Unusual .30-30 loads.
Darn, you guys are good, the 86 gr. are indeed Mauser. I have 5 boxes of soft point and 2 hardball. I also have 5 boxes of 93 gr. Luger soft point. Sure, I'd sell a couple boxes. would prefer to sell the hardball, but I'd turn loose of a couple boxes of soft point too. At the rate I'm going I have a...

Unusual .30-30 loads.
I stumbled in to a large quantity of .30 Luger jacketed bullets for not much money, 86 gr. hardball and roundnose softpoint. Originally had visions of using them in my .30 Carbine Blackhawk but was thinking they might make a fun medium power load for the grandson to shoot in the '94. Any thoughts on...

Re: OT-Appleseed Project guns
Thanks for all the info. Would love to show up with "ideal" equipment, but the economic reality is I'll have to go with what's at hand. That's going to be a Remington 511X bolt .22 I've owned since I was 15, it has the old style leather military sling with all the holes and claw adjusters ...

OT-Appleseed Project guns
My bothers and I are thinking of shooting an Appleseed event this fall and plan on using .22's the first day as they recommend, but not sure I want to shoot big bore on Sunday. One bro has an AR and the other a Ranch Rifle but I would be using a Swedish Mauser or one of two .30-30's, a 94 or a Remin...

Re: cast boolit opinions
Thanks for the replies. Since posting I also had a friend who casts bullets (sorry, I had to revert) on a regular basis look at them and he also thought it was Lyman's lube. He also gave me a list of some of his pet .30-30 loads for cast bullets. It looks like there are plenty of loads out there, I'...

cast boolit opinions
I "inherited" about 50 lbs. of various cast boolits (see, I've already adapted to the local spelling), the ones I have immediate plans for are the 185, 169, and 109 grain .309 dia. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y172/larkbill/PICT0547.jpg Most of the 185 and 169 are sized, lubed and GC-e...

Re: Introducing.............
Thanks for the warm welcome. I figured it was that kind of fire. Victor: Check out AOMCI.org, click on Upcoming Events on the left side. There are plenty of swap meets in your neck of the wood. What would be my first choice, I have two of them, is the Evinrude/Johnson 3 hp. Began life in '51, same a...

Me! Hi, my name is Bill, and I'm addicted to the old ways. Is this where I start the 12 steps? Just a little backround. I was born when Truman was Pres, lived far enough out from the city that my brothers and I shot guns, starting with a Red Ryder and working our way up. Tried to build a crossbow fr...
