I would expect 2.5" from open sights at 100 yards from a bench. A scoped gun should shoot better. Add to the 2.5" best group, hunting conditions, adrenalin, and possibly shooting off your hind legs and the group just opened up to 5"+. This gun would be a candidate for rebarrelling to ...

The body guard model is seldom seen and new airweight models sell for close to 400+. Add the Crimson Trace grips and you've got a good deal at $500. I wish I had had the opportunity to buy a body guard when I bought mine.

I recently bought a S & W M & P 15 Flattop at Gander Mountain. They receive them one or two at a time. I purposely went to the store at 0900 one morning, saw it and bought it. The price had not yet gone up, still 899.00.

I use salt and coarse pepper and just dry it. If in the country, I hang it up with string. If back home, I use a dehydrator.

Your Marlin is an entry level or low end offering. It is a fine gun and will perform as any other Marlin. It should have a forend cap on a birch stock, and a forward barrel band. These are still being made today.

My podna works at a knife and saw shop. He tells me that Stihl is #1 and Husqvarna is #2. I'd bet you'd be OK either way. I have a Husqvarna and no problems.

I don't know her but I would like to know about the gun. Did you have the barrel cut/crowned? Replaced? If C/C'd, what is the diameter at the muzzle? I bought a '71 model 94 specifically for this type of change but have yet to move on it. Figgered it would make a good gun for the granddaughters. TomF

I have the Rossi from 1975. It is a fine gun. The Taurus did not retain the quality that early Rossi exhibited PLUS they put that silly safety selector switch on the top side. I have 2 Rossi made guns, the 22 pump and the coach gun. Both are well made. I own no Tauruses.

It appears that those before us thought the same way about button magazines. These things generally seek their place and survive or disappear. Seems the button mag was not the best fit for the levergun according to levergun buyers.

Be advised that the mag tube has a bulge toward the left side of the gun. This bulge is morticed (relief cut) into the forearm. This is to accomodate the length of the 45-70. The mag tube and forearm should be removed as a unit.

If any one Marlin holds its value, it is the 1894 in 357, any configuration. You should get a 357 and a 45. but get the 357 first. They have been produced with barrels 16, 18.5, 20, 22 (some time ago?) and 24 inches. Only the 18.5 and 20 are in production today. I have 3. They are fun.

I have a couple of J frames and a Ruger LCP. The Ruger hides much better and is a hoot to shoot. It does well at the distances it was meant for and functions flawlessly.
