Another thing to consider is to bring a couple of guys along when you shoot it with baseball gloves!!If yours is like mine it throws brass into a low earth orbit and I never see it again! :shock:

They are fun to shoot but I wouldn't dry fire it!The original firing pin will break easily when dry firing.There is(was?) a site on the net that had a replacement spring loaded firing pin that you can safely dry fire.

Wow ! Thanks everybody ! I also have used a torch but those stocks you did look great ! I have also used potassium permanganate to "slow burn" wood to get it darker.I will have to buy some chromium trioxide and try it out.

Cheaper wood used for stocks

Any wood experts on board? Is the wood that Marlin uses for its cheaper rifles (including its .22's) birch?When the stock is stripped it appears plain,white and tight grained;quite unlike the various beech's that are used in some military rifles.

I just bought a bunch of their 158 JSP's and tried them out in my Rossi M 92,I got excellent groups using 2400.The bullets look like some old Speer 158's but I have not tried them on game yet.
Some friends at the range bought some 158 JHP's and said they shot well in his Ruger GP.

Sorry for not being clear ! The round is pulled from the chamber but it stays in the gun and is not ejected.If I load the rounds through the loading gate and they feed normally I get extraction and ejection . I have not ordered Steves CD but that is on my schedule.

I have noticed when I load my .357 Rossi singly by hand the ejector only works about 10% of the time.I also noted that if I load from the magazine the ejector works OK,is this normal? Is there a way to get the ejector to work loading while loading each round by hand?
