Re: Winchester 1885 In 25-35
My brother has the old family model 64 in 25-35 and cornered the local market on Winchester brass and Hornady 117 RNL projectiles. I don't recall what powder he uses, but it gets the job done. Back in the day I took the old rifle and tested it prior to opening day. The accuracy with open sights was ...

One of our "family rifles" is a Stevens Favorite. The first time I saw a gun similar to yours, that breaks instead of having a rolling block, was at my wife's grandparent's house. It was a 44 caliber shotgun, although they used 410 shotshells in it. They are lovely, light, handy tools. The...

I'd trust a 2240 a lot more than the replicas. Shucks, I just built a "1740" by adding a steel breech and a 10" .177 caliber barrel to a 2240 I had around for that purpose. So far have only run one powerlet of CO2 through it. Got about 40 shots, but the last 10 or so I'd not want to t...

Just lovely! I think that Colorado museum '85 carbine has a factory 14" barrel and lived behind bar for much of its life, according to Campbell's first volume on the Winchester Single Shot. I was raised on the old myth that a .25-35 wouldn't kill deer reliably, but the next ranch had a lady wh...

I think a Henry or 66 set up for that shorter .45 Cowboy load would be pretty interesting. Of course you could use an outside lubricated heel type bullet around .475 diameter……wait a minute!! That keeps coming up in cogitations as well... the downside being the need to rebore the barrel of an alrea...

Interesting you brought this up. Recently I read "The Memoirs Of Luther S. Kelly", also known as "Yellowstone Kelly" He picked up a Henry and a bunch of ammo for it and used it with complete satisfaction, even to the point of using it on a frontal shot on a bison bull or two. He ...

Paco's looking good! Those 30 cal air rifles are a hoot, or so I'm told. One of our local club members has (or had) a Hatsan in 9mm and I helped him source some pellets for it. A lovely rifle indeed! The Cowboy and Gunfighter Museum in Craig, CO has an 1885 in 25-35 with an original from the factory 12 or 14" barrel. Can't remember which. You'd have to get a tax stamp to do that today, but back in the day someone wanted a compact rifle and got it. Although, IIRC, it h...

Further digging yields the probability that you've got an E20 or EB20 pistol, link to manual/EVP below https://support.crosman.com/hc/en-us/articles/203361234-E-EB-Series-Owner-s-Manual-EVP-1991-2008- I'm now VERY curious. Thanks Paul, I assume by what you say replacing the seals is fairly straightforward. It is quite powerful and despite a hard trigger not too bad in the accuracy department. On the later Crosman guns (2240, 1740, 2400KT, 2300T, etc) it's a breeze. What model is yours? I'm not sure if it uses the sam...

Now that's a lovey little popper. I've found with the single shot CO2 pistols the most common repairs seem to be merely lubrication or replacing the seal because it was over tightened. In fact, with the 2240's around here, I've replaced the seal at the front of the valve probably 10 times more than ...

I got some old 38's from a friend up in WA state, from the headstamp they were probably from the early 20th century. Savage 340's are decent rifles, my only experience is with a 30-30, which shot very well. The bolt action has only one locking lug, so it's not especially strong.
