I once had a Supervisor, who had slain deer in the Colorado mountains at 600 yards with a 12 gauge slug gun. Strange indeed.

At the time...debating such things would've been a bad career move.

I've often wondered if a steam engine of sufficient horsepower, might be a clever way to operate an AC generator for off-grid living??? A back up perhaps for Solar and Wind power sources??? Easily available water and wood of course would be a fundamental requirement. 30-40 Horse power perhaps? How l...

Very cool picture. Closer examination of the photo suggests a take-down model 99, with a straight grip.

I did not know Bong was a Medal Of Honor winner. General MacArthur pinned it on his chest while stationed in the Pacific.

I received the new Cabela's Shooting catalogue...and in it are several firearm offerings. Among them are a Model 71 chambered in 45/70!!!

Also a nice looking Model 94, in 30/30 with a half magazine and octagon barrel.

Hmmm.....finished reading.....the 71/86 is made by Pedersoli.

This sounds like something that happened to mine. My 444 was locking up as the cartridge was sliding onto the lifter. One of the additional symptoms was that the cartridge case was being heavily gouged along its length. Upon removing the loading gate...I observed a very sharp burr on its inner surfa...

He researched and wrote the defining work on cast, .30 caliber paper patched bullets using smokeless powders. For cartridges, Harrison utilized the 308, 30-06 and 300 Win Mag in his research. http...

This one will be used for hunting, and deciding whether to stalk (or not) distant herds. I have a budget model Simmons (15x45)that is just adequate for shooting range work.

I need to upgrade...and willing to spend 5-600 dollars. Do I want to stay with 15x45...or go with 20X60???
