Re: SAA in .44 Spec vs .45 Colt

Can someone explain the fascination with an SAA in .44 Spec when there are .45 Colt available? I can't understand it either. The .44 and the .45 are both limited to 14,000 CUP in the SAA, and both shoot similiar weight bullets at similiar weight velocities. I guess the deciding factor would come do...

How long was the shot? How fast were they flying? :) Not sure how fast they were going. They passed a 767 that was on approach. I took the lead reindeer at a lasered 987 yards. They kept going until I dropped the 2nd one. That stopped them, but the shot was just over 1420 yards by then. The dang sl...

Tutt - rifle cartridges with slow powders are a completely different world than sixgun cartridges. The problem has arisen in the shooting community when people read about what has happened with rifles and try to apply it to the world of sixguns.

I suspect that the fast powders are not position sensitive and the slow ones are. Slower powders work best when they either fill the case or are held against the primer. My guess is that you are correct .. but it's just my guess. However, 50 years of reloading most everything from .25 ACP to .475 L...

It's always a "detonation" when someone blows up a gun, regardless of the real cause. No one likes to think they may have seated 2 bullets into one cartridge thereby causing horrendous pressures. Or any other mistake. So we have "detonation". It's a good explanation, even though ...
