I have too many commemoratives and the LF is my favourite one and the only NIB one I tempted myself to shoot. Slug your bore, mine was key holing factory 38-55 loads at 100M.
It is imo the nicest commemorative. If you get the commemorative ammo with it, don't shoot that ammo.

Re: 1886 ejection question
Thanks Nate, I did try that and it works. I pulled it all down and cleaned out the old oil dating back to 1888  Put her all back together, that lower tang with hammer and spring was fun to get back in :? And no change after all that. I might buy the thicker spring in my pic in post above. Chris

Re: 1886 ejection question
So I pulled the old girl down. So fascinating pulling down something made in 1888. An engineering masterpiece for the time. Here is a pic of my ejector components. All are there but my spring appears to be a lot different fron the one on offer from homestead firearms. My parts are in the bottom pic....

1886 ejection question
Still have not had a chance to reload for my 1886 40-65 yet. Have put some starline cases into the chmaber and upon ejection the extractor does its job but the cases are rolling across the top of the receiver, not being flung up and away from the gun. I assume this is an ejector issue? The ejector a...

Re: Got me an 1886
Hi Perry.
40-65 is also classified as obsolete here and if it's made before 1900 like mine it doesn't come under the firearms act.
Hopefully she will be a shooter, i'll have to slug the bore and check the casting die size.

Found myself an 1886 down here. Been after one for a while but they were always outta my reach price wise. This one is an early model with the -MODEL 1886- stamp on the tang.
