Re: 50 Alaska cartridge

I have a WWG 50 AK. Cast performance boolits is what I use almost exclusively. Hard cast lead gaschecks. Most of my load info came from a phone call with the previous owner Mike Rintoul. I would suspect that a phone call with the current owners would be a wealth of knowledge and help also. If you ha...

Re: Me Bee-utiful Office...!!!!!

Life is not boring! It's people that are boring! Chronic pain is a sure-fire buzz-killer tho! 'Chronic pain' is all fake, made-up by malingering patients who are drug-addicts. Even patients with multiple sclerosis don't have real pain, according to numerous 'pain specialists' I've talked to. Unless...

Re: Any experience with the SIG DAK trigger?

I like the DAK trigger because of the consistency of trigger action. I haven't trained as much with DA/SA pistols so it is a good crossover. I am sure that experience and training would even things out but I mostly shoot 1911's ,Glocks, XD'S. All work well and can be used easily. OK , a bit more tra...

Trombone action 30/06

Found a great deal the other day. A trombone action Remington model 760 in 30/06. It had mount and an inexpensive scope. I removed the scope, rings, and mount. Today I placed a Williams WGRS receiver sight and removed the buckhorn factory rear irons. It is a BDL edition and is a real hoot to shoot. ...

Re: 475 Turnbull rifles

I ended up with a deal too good to pass on a few years back. I have a Wild West Guns Guide Gun in 50 Alaskan. I don't shoot it a lot but I imagine that the deer I am shooting is N'yati or Jumbo! Just like to use it when I can. Hold snug and go along for the ride. I don't find it all that much more t...

Not a lever action but...

I made a trade for a Keltec KSG 12 ga 15 shot bullpup that may not be practical but pegged the fun meter in spades. I traded a double stack 45 to this 26 inch toy yesterday. Keltec has its own demons but this is a blast! 15 shots of 12 gauge diplomacy on tap! I almost feel guilty so I am sure it is ...

Re: Bird hunting in Sonora Mexico

Made it back to the United States of America yesterday. The trip was eye opening. No problems with Mexican soldiers, federales, or immigration. The local police a were a different kind of corrupt. The poverty there is stifling, but the people continue to do with what they can. No complaints or blami...

Currently in Mexico. The lodge is great and the people that we have met are very nice. We have 2 Ducks Unlimited region chairmen here. They come down often. So far, greatly exceeds my expectations. I will try to find a way to shrink my photos to post later. Best to all. MK.

All this time I thought Stevie Ray Vaughn was kidding about the Texas Floods. I saw the markers under the overpasses on the 410 that had depth marks! Understand now. Thanks, MK.

SA can be a fun time. The river walk was a great break from Fort Sam. Being from KY, I had to laugh when I first saw the river! We have storm drainage with more water flow. However, dry is dry.

Re: New "Remlin" 336C

I really hope it turns out to be a good shooter. I don't need another 30/30 but , it would be nice to have a "new" old option. I tried a remlin 336Y last year. Didn't keep it long. Once the bugs are worked out, I may want another Marlin 1894 in 44 mag or 45 Colt! MK

Re: Bird hunting in Sonora Mexico

I will be using a guide supplied Benelli or Beretta semi auto. Game birds are to be dove and duck. From what I have gathered in the information packet, the guide provides transport to and from hacienda and hunting areas with gun/ bird boys. Our group has been there a few times. However I only know m...

Re: New to the campfire.

The first centerfire rifle I ever shot was a pre-64 94 Winchester 30/30. My father bought it new in 1961. When I was very young I shot mostly 22lr rifles and revolvers. I was seduced by large cases and flat trajectories. I traded around a bit in my late teens and bought a Remington 700 in 7mm mag. I...

Bird hunting in Sonora Mexico

I count myself fortunate to have a few very good friends. Case in point. Recently I was invited to go, with a friend of mine from my modest military service, to Sonora Mexico. I have hunted squirrels, deer and rabbits since I was a child. I have never bird hunted and have an opportunity to begin wit...
