Nate;
Thank you for information, much food for thought. Looks like if I do buy the rifle, I should ship it to you to tweak before even shooting it.

Good show! Also, do not be picking on Game Keeper about the women; my 70 year old brother in law just broke up with his 35 year old girl friend and took back the Lexus convertible he gave her (let her drive, actually) and then he GAVE it to a 45 year old girl friend. Yikes, what gets into us old fog...

Good Price on a NIB Charles Daly 1892 Takedown?
I just came across a NIB Charles Daly 1892 Takedown NRA Limited Edition .45 Long Colt. It has 24 inchOctagon barrel, case colored receiver, nice walnut, and crescent steel buttplate and is listed at $690. :?: Anyone own one of these? Any opinions on the price? I do not REALLY need one of these, but ...

Jason; Back before there were frangible loads for self defense, this was a common practice for effective self defense loads that would not overpenetrate. I used the .38 hollow base bullets over a mild charge of bullseye myself. I also loaded some of these mild loads for women to use in their .38 and...

Yes it will. My .308 featherweight M70 Win would jump up from the sandbags at the range when shooting Hornady light magnums before I had it magnaported. Now it does not come up at all and I estimate that the recoil is reduced about 10%. My Ruger 77 in .338 Win Mag is also Magnaported with similar re...

Pics of 1892 with refinished stocks + update
My Winchester 1892 SRC serial number indicates that it was manufactured in 1912. From the wear on the top tang and bottom of the action, it looks to have been hunted hard for many years until someone converted it to .357 magnum. This conversion included internal mods, a 20" Douglas barrel, and ...

As previously stated, shop around for standard ammo and find out which one your rifle likes best. From my experience with .357 in a rifle and pistol. the 110 and 125 grain hollow points are devastating on four legged varmints and should work well on two legged ones also, unless you have to shoot thr...

Progress report on 1892 .357 work /// It is ready !
Dropped by Doc's gun shop today and drooled over the refinished Bishop stocks - sorry I did not take my camera.
Doc says he will soon get it all back together and give me a call, maybe by next week. At that time I will post some b4 and after pics.
Then it will be off to the range for some real fun.
