Re: Bullard Leveraction
Bullard rifles are scarce because they were way overpriced at the time they were built! They are wonderful rifles, with extremely good engineering, fit, and finish. But the cost to build them was very high, and that's why they sold so few, and went bankrupt. The owner of Bullard never really had a g...

You can actually reload those spent case with one of the .22 reloading kits . Lyman makes the correct 65 grain mold. I plan to try both they say the .25 rimfire is the king of rimfires. Re: Stevens Favorite 25 STEVENS
I have a Ballard #3 Gallery rifle that was initially .22 Long, but back when the .25 Stevens RF was the hot new cartridge someone sent this nice little #3 to Stevens, and had it rebored, rifled, and chambered in the new .25RF! Then Stevens fitted it with a Stevens full length #368 scope, and under t...

I made up round ball loads for several Ballard rifles in .44 Long, .38 Long, and .32 Long using dead soft ML balls I bought. Honestly never found any loads that produced very good accuracy, so I stopped messing with them. But it was a fun way to shoot those old rifles before I bought proper heeled b...

Not sure about buying any ammo, unless you don't reload? But it's always been a good idea to stock up on loading supplies, and long before it was a case of demand exceeding supplies! Since I first began reloading 50 years ago, I've always stocked up on powder and primers more than anything else. Operator error. He didn't read the instructions, or ignored them. That follower has a lot of spring tension with just a half filled mag tube. Had he filled it up, or lowered the follower properly this wont ever happen.

Re: Marlin 39A extraction problems
Since it's doing it with more than just the SK ammo, I'd assume it's not ammo related. Likely the extractor is the issue, but not because it's bad. I'd remove the breech bolt and totally disassemble it to give it a thorough cleaning. Sometimes the .22 ammo is pretty dirty, and the recesses around th...

The average SAA pistol has pretty basic sights anyway, so I've never found much difference in various barrel lengths and accuracy. But handling is a larger concern for me, and I just find the shorter 5.5" and 4.75" barrels to be much more to my liking. I've only owned one Colt SAA with the...

I did this 34 years ago when we bought our house, just so all the lawn stuff was in one place. I looked at materials cost, and settled on a pre fab metal garden shed instead. Wish I'd bought two back then as they were under $300 for a 10'x10' shed. It's held up remarkably well for all the years, and...

Agreed, love the 1881. How strong an action are they? Can they do smokeless trapdoor loads? The 1881 isn't as strong as the Win. 1886, but plenty good for loads under 30,000 psi. I load nothing but low pressure smokeless in the three I have. The flues 1881 is in .40-60M, which is what Win. copied w...
