For single actions, I'm mostly a Colt guy. I have SAAs in all 3 generations, chambered in .45 and .357, with 5.5" and 4.75" barrels. I also have several of the .22s, and much prefer them to the Single Six (a Ruger I just cannot like). I do like the Blackhaws and SBs, but prefer the old mod...
I can't do it either. And I've worked nights for decades. Lots of guys on 3rd shift back in the day used to go out in the morning for beer after work. There was a local place that would open up and serve just cause of 3rd shift at work. I just couldn't. Even when I got home, it didn't even criss my ...
Man! Tonight is dragging like this thread is starting to.
Last one at least, then I'm out for the week. Of course, I'll have more snow to clean up waiting for me when I get home. Oh well.
Brings back memories ...thank you! I grew up just like this in Maine traveling the woods with my 22 rifle. Brooks, streams, swamps and bogs. Lots of huge tracts of land with thousands of acres to play in. At the time it was SD Warren paper company land but not logged for many years. A paradise for ...
No "creeks" or "cricks" in these parts. We have brooks and streams. We had brooks and Ponds in the woods we played in. They also had foxholes scattered through them from when my father and his friends played there a generation before. We utilized them too, having BB gun fights (y...
It ain't to save the planet, it's to save (and grow) their power. The more deprived, destitute, and dependant the population is, the more power they have and can take. Simple as that. And nothing is going to stop it. It's much too late for that. Because if it looks like they aren't going to succeed,...
It doesn't where I work. Well...... it stinks, but not the smell. Haha yeah they been talking about pulling all the hydro dams out of the Kennebec for years. Problem is, it's not only where all the power comes from, but they keep the flooding to a minimum. We just had that big storm and flood, so it...
Oh, I do maintenance. Plenty. I just run out every time it's Dusty and wash and wax them anymore. I have an Odyssey battery in my Rubicon. Big bucks, but run a winch and wheel my Jeep. In the winter, I keep it on a tender so the battery doesn't drain down. Low voltage will screw up electronics quick...
Yeah, its amazing how you change as you get older. Years ago I'd of lost it after breaking that window. I was pretty particular about my vehicles. I still am about my bike and my Jeep to a lesser degree. I haven't even washed that truck in months. I broke that window and didn't even really have a re...
Yeah...... Started out as a great day. I ran up to camp to re-cover the tractor before we get more garbage weather. Anyway, I had to get a 2x4 to bring up. Wouldn't you know it, I hit the back window of my truck. Weeeellllllll......great! Now I got a hillbilly duct tape window. :D But, I'm a step ab...
While it's great to see a new levergun introduced, I don't see it going anywhere without being something really different. Especially for that money. There are a LOT of leverguns out there already. Many of us here on this forum are using examples way over a hundred years old. I'm no business man, b...

Yeah, I knew the earlier guns were nicer. Not as beefy as the later ones.
I never had a use for the old black powder shotguns. Some were beautiful guns too. I bet they had some proud owners back in the day.
Nice buddy! When I was young, I wanted one of those bad. Never got one though. Plus, I never was a big shotgun guy. I think my dad always wanted a nice shotgun. He talked about that Parker his buddy had all my life. Then he had it for half an hour.
Haha yeah. Clunky and heavy. That's a 311 all right. But like I said, they fit me. Hey! I'm clunky and heavy too! :D The best iteration of it is my dad's old Wards Hercules model 5000 in 16ga. Just something about it feels better than the 311s Ive had. Can't put my finger on it. My 26" 16ga Sar...
Hahaha yeah! Well Parkers are pretty scarce in my low class hick part of the world. Lots of Steven's 311s around here, but I don't have a problem with them. They actually fit me quite well, or I grew to fit them. :D A fancy rig here would be a Lefever Nitro. :D I lucked into that little 20 for sure....
Short of patience? No way man. I don't believe that for a second old buddy. :D Yeah.....242 pages. Ain't we a bunch? :D Well......we definitely are what we are. Nobody is pretending for this long. I'd think a W.W. Greener, outside hammer, in 16ga. Whatta you think? Of course, anything on that level ...
I inherited that from my grandfather (the warden). I've just never been inclined to anything addictive or compulsive. He smoked, drank, and ate things he liked. But with a moderation that was unbelievable. I never saw anyone like him in that regard. I'm pretty patient, but he was a master. My mother...
When it comes to drinking, I'm an odd duck. Well.....I'm odd without the drinking, but anyway. Other than my 3 workdays, it's odd if I go through a day without a beer. Depending on what I have for supper, I have a beer with it, but only certain things. For some meals, no way. If I sit downstairs wat...
Oh Six! That doesn't seem fair........to me. :D Yup. Ole GK is the best. An American hillbilly in London? Hey Six, we should chip in on a drone and we'll fly that Colt DS over to him. Obviously, I'd send mine, but yours is nickel, so it'd be better in the damp climate. And, you only have 153 bucks i...
Hey! Is that the DS that your daughter had? Did you finally get it back?
The other morning when it was 5 below, I was at the gas station fueling the truck, and the guy working there said it was 40 below way up on the border at hid mom's. Don't know if it was true, but that's cold.
Thank you Walt. Funny thing is, that Colt was new in the box till a year ago. I'd had it for 20 years and just left it in the box. The trigger and action is incredible. One day last year I just said "screw it" and took it out an put a 100 rounds through it. Great gun. I shouldn't have wait...
My wife has a no lock 442 that looks like it's been run over. It has a set of Barami hip grips and has been carried and shot a lot. It shoots pretty good, but not as good as the old flat latch chiefs.
My oldest son has a square butt 37 and my youngest has a no lock 442.
Well I just got to work. So I'm crawling through my river of zhit now.
I can voice for this 1889s. I have a 2/3 mag rifle in 38-40 with a mint bore. That sucker shoots like no tomorrow.
About 5 below this morning. All my sled trails up to camp should be set up enough for good walking this morning. The wife could probably wear her spiked heels.😁 Yeah, I was saying that yesterday. Be nice to have a set of skidder-type cleat chains. But when you're poor..... Yes, it has a float. I use...
Thanks Walt! We have fun messing around up there. It's only 17 miles from home, but we have 200 acres to play on. Hey Six, That was Band of Brothers. Hoobler wanted the Luger. When he got one he ended up killing himself with it by shooting his femoral artery while it was in his pocket in Bastogne. A...
Thanks boys! Wish you were here too. Could use some help shoveling.
Haha naw......just hackin on ya.
Beautiful day. Got the tractor covered back over. Having a last bit of coffee then probably head out. I got a bunch more pictures I'll post later.
Well it's winter in Brighton! Holy smokes! It was 6 degrees in the camp when we got here. After shoved so we could get in. There's a tractor under the blue tarp. It took an hour to dig it out. She started right up though. I'd read thise tractors were excellent cold weather starters, and that's what ...
That sucks about the Manhattan GK. I've never seen one. There's really very few original cap and ball revolvers here. Few SAAs for that matter. I don't think there were a lot of handguns here back in the old days. I think they were a luxury not many old justify. My glitch is proofreading AFTER I hit...
