Congrats Scott!
I need to drop about 20 "COVID" pounds myself. No point in starting over the holidays with as many baked goods as Mrs. YK makes each year. But I'm almost done with them. My breakfast of champions today was a couple last gingerbread men cookies!

LaPierre resigns
Just saw a blurb that Wayne LaPierre is resigning his position with the NRA. Haven't verified it yet, but it makes sense given the lawsuit in NY.

Yelled SWMBO (a.k.a., "Mrs. YK"). "Nothing, honey" I yelled back from the basement. That was embarrassing. Recently I picked up an old "Lee Loader" for the .45 Colt off ebay. Decided to give it a whirl over the holidays. Read the instructions, questioning them a bit whe...

I'll be hitting 60 this year. I have to smile a bit over all the responses, having had the same journey that many of us apparently had. I was a recoil junkie in my 20's, hand loading .44 Magnum rounds for my Ruger Super Black Hawk that were more than a bit "hot". Had some loads where I had...

I haven't invested the time necessary, but my sister has countless hours, days, weeks, months, and years. She even had a book made for our extended family with everything she found condensed in an easy to read format with tons of photos. I've always been the genealogy guy in the family, after my Da...

YK, that is something. I belonged to Ancestry for a year and built up a pretty good tree for about 6 or 7 generations. I had a big framed posture made up. I need to re-join and extend it further, but it seems every time you turn around looking for records they want money. JBowen They do rope you in...

Find A Grave comes up often in "hints" through Ancestry.com. I really like it. Having read some great (informative) obituaries, and some terrible ones, when I wrote my Mom's obituary a couple years ago I wrote it for her family and friends now, but to be a resource for our descendants a hu...

I try to go through all the hints with at least one person each day. Sometimes there are few hints and I can cover a nuclear family unit. Other times it is just the one. I'm up to over 5,000 in my family tree, with almost 1,700 photos and over 12,000 records. I feel close to my Dad every evening whe...

Bill, The prices are creeping up on the Yugoslavian stuff. I bought several M57 Tokarev pistols a couple years ago for $150 w/out the mandated frame mounted safety lever and they are already selling for over $300. The Mausers are doing the same. Military firearms account for most of my collection a...

Nope - especially since you are unloading it before getting into a vehicle or climbing over a fence. I'd much rather miss a shot at game then accidently put a round in me or a companion. Taking an extra second for safety is always worth it!

I was walking around a gun show back with Y2K when he was around 4 or 5 years old. He had already watched "True Grit" with me a bunch of times. We came across a table with Henry rifles, and he spied one with the big loop. "Look Daddy - Rooster's rifle!" You know the rest. It came...

Awesome! I love seeing this! I got Y2K his first rifle, also a .22 bolt action, for his first Christmas. I wanted to make sure he got his first rifle from his Dad in case anything happened to me. He shot it for the first time when he was a hair over 2 years old, with a lot of help from me. I really ...
