My mouse fanny burp load for my 357 mag trapper (16") is a cast 158 SWC nudged by 4.2 gr of Trailboss. I will send a pic to anyone that can post pics of a target with carbine and load data including chrono velocities. 950 fps and 2-1/4" at 100 yds five shot group.

Doc, I read somewhere (prolly on the Internet) that 444 Marlin brass makes good 410 shells. Been meaning to try it, but bought a MEC Reloader for 2-1/2 and 3" shells. Had to buy brand new..everyone wanted new price for their old ones..glad I did at the price of new ammo!!

WM, thanks for the heads up. Love a Mil Surp bargain. Used to have a Shoe Repair shop, and kept my Singer 29K71 patcher (big heavy duty free arm sewing machine for sewing patches on shoes/leather/canvas/. Should work at least as well as super glue).

Stopped by Freedom arms in Wyoming to pick up a holster for my 97 in 45 Colt, and stepped into the toilet. The TP holder was a longer barreled 83 mounted on the wall with a roll of TP on the barrel. Took some pics, but can't find 'em.

on my I pad when I click on the box to the right of hot link for forums, it says I have to copy the stuff by hand. I tried select all and copy, but it tells me it was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the url you entered is correct. Am I doing something wrong?

I have one. Great shooting pistol! Plenty of elevation in the sights to let you put 240+ cast booklets on target with elevation to spare. When my IPad starts mis behaving, I give it a time out, just like an unruly child. I shut it off for 10 minutes. Usually when I fire it up it does what I expect. YMMV

What's the rate of twist? Hope a little quicker than my Bighorn Armory 460. IIRC the BH is 1-38, not much hope to stabalize a heavy long bullet at a reduced velocity. I tried a 350 cast and 50 yds is about it for any tight groups.

There is a Bulldog in the Custer museum in Gerryowen Mt. (Just down I90 from the Battlefield, you can see the pine trees on the ridge at the battle site from there). Custer was supposed to have been carrying one at the time, but never found. on the newer gun, found one to fondle at Cabelas yesterday...

I've got the mate to that gun, mine being a 1946. I couldn't tell if yours has a fluted comb, doesn't look like it. (One of the identifiers of a third model, first variation). Mine is also Ballard rifled and over all looks almost as nice as yours. Congrats on your find!

I have an older Lee bottom pour with the operating handle with counter weight on it. I keep a piece of wire shaped like a 7 with a little loop on the long leg to act as a handle. When the pot won't stop I clean it out by poking the short leg up into the molten lead thru the bottom of the pour spout....

Use the Same bullet in my 92. One coat of Harbor Freight red seems to do it. Even if splotchy looking, if you look close they are completely covered with the shiney polymer coating even though not "red" all over. Good enough for ground squirrels!

Gary, nope but I've met a few other Staleys in my travels. Lots in Green River Wyoming, some in Jackson Hole. The family has a long history of running.. Started in the early 1700s in a little town Staley Bridge near Derbe (Darbey?) England. Staleys left there for the new world for religious freedom....
