Re: The old H&R Pistol is Coming Along!
Jim, you took on a serious project with that little revolver -- in that shape. If the pitting near the muzzle does affect accuracy, could you counterbore it? I probably could. I don't plan to shoot anything but round balls in it so we will see what happens if/when I get that far. Sometimes pitting ...

The old H&R Pistol is Coming Along!
I am about at the point to start putting it back together. There are pits in some of the chambers but there is no problem getting the shells in and out. There is pitting on one side of the rifling at the muzzle and we will see if that hurts accuracy much. ;-) IMG_4848.JPG The big problem is the cyli...

Re: More from HarryO ... Loading Black Powder in the 38-40
I’ve taken apart a lot more than a few dozen original b.p. factory ammo and they are all the same……b.p.. with a bullet on top. Me too. I've pulled apart old ammo including od .44-40's and old .45 Colt's and never found anything under the bullet but black powder. I am sure some of the tricks do help...

More from HarryO ... Loading Black Powder in the 38-40
Loading Black Powder in the 38-40 by Harry O I started loading black powder (BP) cartridges the first time between 35 and 40 years ago. I was told by several older (and wiser?) people at the time to just fill the case to where the bullet compresses the powder about 1/8" when seated. It wasn't ...

One of the Ruger/Marlin reps mentioned in a video report from SHOT SHOW that the 1894 "Marlin Jam" has supposedly now been fixed with their new hardened cartridge lifter which they contend was the root of the dreaded problem. I sure hope they're right about that if that's what it is. The ...
