Funny memory I have of thexold 16 GA. Back in the 90's my Wife and I went up to the cabin on Friday evening so I could hunt turkeys on Saturday morning. Was sitting there calling a gobbler up when I could see my Father N Law driving up the mountain road . I ended up taking the gobbler and while clea...

Interesting J.C. Higgins shotgun
Recently picked up a vintage J.C. Higgins bolt action shotgun that's marked 12 gauge on the left side and 16 gauge on the right. The model 20 - 12 GA is actually a pump shotgun , apparently the wrong barrel was placed in the stamping machine . It's not a model 20 . And is defintaly a 16 Gauge. My Fa...

I'll try it, tried about about everything else shy of a steel baracade box. They climb over the deck gate pull tge lids off galvanize cans and make a mess. Back in May had one 175-200 lbs I opened door and he ran and jumped off high end like a flying squirrel 12 ft up ,bever phased it.

They do make sight dovetail guides from hardened steel ,harder than files. And are just about goof proof . Fairly inexpensive as well. I've cut a few by hand using actual sight base dovetail file . They work excellent having only one live side other two are smooth. Most of the barrels I do today I u...

For me it's gotta be blued steel the painted alloy does not do anything for me. Single six I've had a number of over the years and I keep coming back. First .22 pistol I learned to shoot on.

Re: New Ruger Single Six
The Flat backed .22LR came out during the new model era ,but not until later .Engineers realized that the transfer bar illuminated the need for the groove. All this probably doesn't mean doodle squat for a gun intended to shoot. Just an observation that needs checking to verify safety. I think gener...

Re: New Ruger Single Six
Old model single six .22LR Have the FP groove, 22 WMR is flat. Based on mis matched serials sounds like both cylinders are not original to gun. New model 22LR do not have firing pin channel because of the transfer bar. As long as timing worked out and no excessive slop or barrel cylinder gap sounds ...

Seems like the handgun is being purposely allowed to rise back and to the side. Notice exact form in each photo.
Seems a technique to me ,kinda like in Archery where you use a wrist sling allowing bow to drop forward after shot.

I had planned to turn a few brass cases with counterbore for 22 wrf case and powder and lyman 65 grain .
Also contacted CCI again as there was a report they planned to do a run .If enough people ask them they might do it.

You can actually reload those spent case with one of the .22 reloading kits . Lyman makes the correct 65 grain mold.
I plan to try both they say the .25 rimfire is the king of rimfires.
Fiocchi makes 25 rimfire animal slaughter cartridges in bulk but can't find anywhere to get them.

Not sure about the Navy. But the Army defiantly benefits from a taller front sight. As they were for horse soldiers sighted to 60 plus yards.

For handling and packing the 4 3/4" ,but for all around use the 5 1/2" for me . Obviously the longer the sight radius the more accurate it will be .But your only talking couple inch variance. I can shoot my Ruger single six in 4 5/8" just as accurate as my 6 1/2" Colt New Frontie...

Back when they were still I'm production they were defiantly cheaper. Once the custom shop took over the prices have slowly crept up beyond actual worth. Colt SAA Price in 1971
Does anyone remember the average price paid for a new 2nd gen SAA in 1971 ? I know retail was $190. Colt worked off a 18-36% wholesale price depending on how many were purchased .
Currently the average price paid is far more than inflation rate due to supply / demand.
