Nice pick up.....one of the few firearms I ever let get away was a KGP-141 (full lug, adjustable sight but otherwise the same as yours). It was a fine revolver and I have occasionally regretted it.

I would guess that at least 50% or more of local LEOs did a hitch in the service before becoming full time lawman so there is a predisposition towards the AR platform.......if it served you well when the feces hit the fan then the next time it is probably what you're going to want to have with you. ...

I've found in my own experience that IMR 3031 works well in that family (30 WCF, 38-55, 375 Win, etc). My Savage 23 22LR is my favorite plinking rifle....I'm not sure if knowing that helps you in anyway but I'd buy another 23 in rimfire or centerfire for the right price. Locally here in Michigan it is somewhere between 50 and 100 percent. If you find a rifle for $300 on the shelf you should not be surprised if the pawner/seller only got about $150 for it.
