To me, living as I do where even an ambulance is a 20 min. response, and deputies often far longer, two pegs stuck in the woodwork above the front door to keep babies from getting to it is "safe storage" for my HD rifle. That's where it lives. One in the shop/office too.

The weakest version would be OK, as would a tiny dot of enamel model paint applied to one side of the threads with a tooth pick. It need not be tight. My Favorite is also flat across the muzzle. If ya look close it has the slightest bit of a chamfer at the actual bore, like they simply used a handheld deburring tool. It's original.

I think Lee six cav. molds are OK with some TLC to get em right. their 2 cav. molds suck. A GOOD iron or brass mold is an investment that will make you smile. If I needed a custom mold I'd use Brooks Molds. For stock stuff I like Lyman or RCBS.

Things to check include mainspring tension and head space. A rifle with loose head space can fire or not depending on if the rim of the case is under the extractor hook, and may well fire on a second hit if it isn't.

OI has it. I sometimes get ingots that look like crumbled cake and even break when dumped. No big deal as the melt in the casting pot sorts that out. There is no other way with a SAA type revolver. Snap caps don't last forever, but are cheaper than live ammo.

Walnut is traditonal because of it's ease of working and uniform grain. Structurally it's nothing special. Piano sound boards are made of rock maple. It don't get much tougher.
