Re: Let's See Your... Deer Rifles
When I quit hunting with my modern bolt action rifles, the first old rifle I chose to take hunting was this Ballard Union Hill rifle in .38-55 caliber. https://i.imgur.com/hdHE0NRl.jpg I had shot it a lot at ranges from 100-200 yds. and after some practice at these distances, I decided I'd set the t...

Those are great looking, high quality 1911 style handguns! And nice to have both barrel lengths also.
All mine are full length barrels, which I love, but not the best size for a carry gun all year around. I find myself going to a compact 9mm in the hot weather as a T shirt covers them easier.

I love the .32-40 in a lever gun or single shot. Just a joy to shoot, and very pleasant on the shooter. Great out to 400 yds. easily, and further if a guy wants to play with them.

We have a Firman generator that's 11,000/9200w. depending on whether I use gasoline or propane. I'd venture to say there are likely more gasoline fires from leaky fuel lines than LPG or natural gas fires. And there are millions of homes heated with, and cooking with natural gas. Anything that can cause an explosion inside a engine can explode outside if the system gets in poor shape. The one d...

Thanks all, MarlinMan my main reason for the 24" is the sighting radius, I'e tried a tang sight and a receiver peep sight and I find target acquisition slower for Boar on the run, some say a longer barrel slows you down but on a light levergun I have found this isn't so. I agree with COSteve r...

I'm still not too concerned since buffalo only drop one calf, or on rare occasion two per year. Whereas most rodents drop large litters, multiple times a year. I doubt even a huge number of hunters like there were in the buffalo days would put much of a dent towards extinction of rodents.

Personally I don't think the velocity gained by a longer barrel is as beneficial as the sighting radius gained by the extra length! Having an extra 4"-8" of extra barrel length with iron sights is a huge factor in more accurate shooting.
