Re: 1892 Rifle in 44 mag and 255gr SWC Gas Checked
That length of cartridge would work OK through the action of my Rossi -- with the Rossi 1.70 is about max: you'll just have to see how this fits through the m92. I like Unique for nice moderate velocity loads and the H110 for maximizing velocities. I don't have experience with the Norma powders. Th...

1892 Rifle in 44 mag and 255gr SWC Gas Checked
Hi folks, I lucked out and managed to pick up just under 1000 .44 cal semi wad cutter gas checked bullets. I'm looking to run them in a .44 mag 1892 clone. Lyman lists a very similar bullet (#429244) with 8.9 - 12.1 gr of Unique @ COAL 1.6800 - This could be a bit long to run through the action. Any...

Re: Tightening up an 1892 takedown
Mine locks up tighter than a bank vault. And yes, on chiappa, the the latch arm has a lobe on it that fits in a lengthwise slot cut into bottom of barrel. Mine must be straight up and down dead nuts in allighnment for the latch to close and the lobe to go into the slot. Interesting. Sounding more l...

. Sixgun meant to say "Trade it in for a Rossi". :o  :D It's weird that they didn't incorporate an adjustment into the design though. The only takedown guns I have are Rugers; a 10/22 rifle and a 9mm Charger, and both have take-up adjustment if needed. I used to have a Remington mo...

So it doesn't need to latch into the underside of the barrel to not come unscrewed?
Interesting. I have some "full house" loads to use. I shall give it a try and see what happens.

Tightening up an 1892 takedown
Hi folks, I have been getting my 1892 Chiappa Alaskan sorted out and have put an XS rear peep sight on the rifle: https://i.imgur.com/TLhDBc3l.jpg I have however noticed that the takedown mechanism is a bit loose. Re: XS Sight on an 1892 Clone
Yeah it definitely likes warmer loads with H110. IMR4227 doesn't burn real clean either, but I've got good resin spite of it. Especially across both handgun and rifle. I have multiple 44s, with rifles in 16 and 20 inch, and handguns with 3, 6 and 7.5 inch barrels. The 240 XTP with the 4227 seems to...

I use the 240 Hornady XTP with great results. I load it over 24.3gr. IMR4227. Nice one. I use ~21.5gr of N110 and sees to work. Scrummy Yeah. Ive thought about trying H110 too. I tried H110 but got very dirty / inconsistent burn. Really need a magnum primer for H110. Also here in the UK Viht powder...

Re: 44 mag lever action and Barnes Bullets
For me, Li'L Gun likes a good crimp. I find it to make the barrel heat up faster than H110 does. Accuracy is good. With a mild crimp it burns dirty and SD for the velocity is all over the place. A good crimp really helps it. VitaVuori powder is not something I have used much. No idea about the N105...

Enforcer or Lil'gun in .44 mag
Hi folks,
Looking to load up some Barnes XPB 200 as non-lead is becoming a real thing here (and possibly some Peregrine non-lead bullets as well).
Barnes seems to recommend Lil'gun or Enforcer for speed and both are in stock fairly locally.
Would anyone have any preference?
Best wishes,
Scrummy
