Re: SMOK'N DEAL...1893 Marlin for $435!
Good score! KTP is about 2hrs south of me. You can sometimes hit it good there for old levers. Always kinda wanted a 93 as I have an 89 and 81. Marlins are very accurate and that should be a great shooter. I stopped there 2yrs ago and they had a beautiful 1876 in 50-95exp. Outta my price range with ...

Re: Picked Up Another 38-40
I have seven in 92's, 73's and 89 marlins and all will shoot the same cast load very well. What is this cast load they all shoot well, Win? Reason I'm asking is my 38-40 hasn't been anything to get real proud of -- not bad, but a long way from real good. But to be fair to the rifle, so far I've onl...

Re: Picked Up Another 38-40
Good score! The 38-40 is my favorite of the pistol class cartridges. I have found it much more consistant from gun to gun in what it takes to shoot well. I have seven in 92's, 73's and 89 marlins and all will shoot the same cast load very well. All my 44's need something different and are more work ...

Re: .30 carbine... Am I missing something?
I think the most effective the 556 has ever been has been with a 55gr bullet out of a 20" barrel. All the changes since may have made it more accurate and better able to penetrate barriers but has made it slower and lessened it's wound capabilities. How it originally behaved is what the soviets...

Re: .30 carbine... Am I missing something?
I think the biggest problem with 30 carbine is that it has always been judged against cartridges out of its class. In my opinion the M-1 carbine is a vicious (buzz word of the times) personal defense weapon. It way outperforms 9mm out of a carbine or smg and the super short barrel 223's are awful fo...

Ghostdncr, Yes the 56 has the thimbles and the 66 has screws but they are basically coin slots. The 66 is more common when searching for a steel sight. Its more a matter of taste as to what you prefer. The 66 is more compact and to me looks just right on a 94. I do prefer the 56 on a bigger framed r...
