I'm in the same boat, distance is fine but the front sight is extremely blurred without my reading glasses. Just recently discovered that if I center the darkest part of the fuzzy front sight on the target I shoot almost as well as with reading glasses. Guess point shooting is next.

Walked into my local gunshop and was handed 6 boxes of 375winchester, both 200gr and 250gr. They were turned in to be destroyed and I promised to see that they didn't fall into the wrong hands...

Believe the 94BB is going for a walk in a few weeks.

Re: New Antelope rifle

This little carbine if FUN. Some of my coworkers wanted to have a 'focus meeting' at the local pistol range, so I haven't shot it at 50 or 100 yards yet, but with S&B ammo, it's very easy to hit with off hand. Once I got the merit aperture in the right spot on my shooting glasses, I was shooting...

Anyone shooting a Long barreled 1886

Saw a couple of 32 inch barrels offered recently, in 45-70 and 45-90. Just wondering if anyone here shot the longer barrels and if the barrel length makes a real difference in long range shooting.

Must be why I've always heard it pronounced Polk. Grandma's family left Lousiana after the civil war and traveled through Texas into Arkansas. Grandparents gave up farming and moved to Bixby in the 50's.

I never liked mustard or turnip greens because of the bitterness either. Grandma did something that took that out of polk greens, maybe it was boiling it then draining the water and boiling it again.

I grew up just south of Tulsa. Grandma was a farmer's wife, used to scramble eggs with it. Pretty good seasoned with bacon. She stopped fixing it late in life because she couldn't pick it without getting into some poison ivy.

Carlsen, that rifle is drool worthy. My 257 is an old Winchester model 54 with a 20 inch medium-heavy barrel restocked by Pachmayr's old master smith Freddy Bruner. I got lucky as it loves hornady custom 117gr ammo.

Plan is to use citrustrip and wrap the stocks in aluminum foil and let sit, then wash with mineral spirits and repeat. I've got some of the old winchester stain/oil mix I was planning to use.
