Re: The Trail to Levers
My first lever was a Daisy BB gun, but my love for levers started with my dad. Above the piano in our living room was a nice 4 point buck that dad shot with his old 1894 rifle in 30WCF. I listened to that story numerous times over the years, and dreamed of the day when I would be able to go deer hun...

I had a good friend who was shot down over Germany. His crew had to climb vertically up through the plane so they could exit through the tail as it corkscrewed toward the ground. IIRC, not all of the crew made it out of the plane before it hit the ground. They were very brave men, and I salute those...

I have worked in the timber industry most of my career in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Most of the loggers run Stihl in this region, but there are those who like the Husqvarna and use them too. I always used a Stihl, figuring that most of the timber cutters in the woods had good reasons for their p...

Yep, Bi-Mart is a great store. Its the only place I have seen 22lr on the shelves in 2+ years. They get powder in on a fairly regular basis, and they have had primers on the shelves all of the time since they opened last year in Aberdeen. When I was 19, I shot a nice 3 point mule deer. When I skinned him, I noticed a hard red lump in the hide on one side. I wondered what caused it, and was watching for any indication of a corresponding lump on the other side of the body in the hide. Sure enough, there was one on each side of the body...

Re: New Henry Golden Boy 22 Question
That is what I thought. In order to look through a scope mounted on that rifle, it seems to me anyway that you have to crane your neck to see through the scope! Zero cheek weld! Do the older Winchesters (1873, 1876, 1866) have a higher comb than the 86's and newer? I'm wondering if Henry copied the ...

New Henry Golden Boy 22 Question
I checked out a new Henry Golden Boy at a local shop before Christmas. It had an octagon barrel and the typical smooth Henry action. This gun appears to be based on an 1873? Winchester. The receiver is longer than the blued H0001 rifles. When I shouldered the rifle, I noticed that there is not a goo...

Only thing is that they can go out and do it the next day. I have to wait about a week before I can do it again!

Geobru, great pics. I have a pristine BLR 243 that is almost 25 years old. And a 40 year old 88 in 308. 1100 rds through those two. The 308 is ammo picky, half inch is hat best with Fed 150s and 5 inch plus with Win 180 RN. My BLR doesn't like the Winchester Power Point either. I also have an 88 in...

My primary gun for over 30 years was this BLR in 308. I bought it new just before I got married. It worked very well on deer and elk over the years while we were raising our family. Back in the late 60's three of us had a balloon sling, a small outbuilding to get on top of so we could pull the pouch down to the ground and shoot balloons higher and farther. We started lobbing water balloons high over the trees that lined the street, trying to hit a car. Great fun huh??...

I bought this rifle about a year ago. At the time, I loved the trigger (3.5 lbs.) and thought it had the potential to be a really accurate rifle. I think you did a pretty good job of capturing the lighter/blonder coloring common in that era.
