Any time my brother deer hunts, which is about every other year. He uses my BLR in 308. My nephew is using my 30-30 this year, which was his grandfathers. I have a friend at work that is going throught hunter safety so he can hunt. I shoot with him monthly but he has never hunted. I will borrow him ...

I've heard that it will plug the gas port in the barrel over time. I use Rainer plated bullets. It is a fickle cartridge to reload. Store ammo runs great, my reloads will jam from time to time. Brass length is very important as well as over all length. If too long it won't go into battery all the wa...

Nath, You are spot on about the lever to bolt tension. I had a 94 that you had to grip the lever extra hard to pull the lever in far enough to push on the lever safety. I tried a different lever and no difference. So I cut off a piece of a drill bit that was a smaller diameter than the lever bolt pi...

I use purple loctite on the small screws. If you want to take them back out, heat with a butane lighter and it will turn the loctite liquid again. Butane lighter will not hurt the bluing.

It's nice see you have new addiction to feed. The 30-30 and 303 Savage calibers are the most affordable and then the 300 savage. The 99s aren't as common in Wisconsin as 30-30 Wins and Marlins. Yes you can switch out the barrel. It is not that hard. To go to a octagon you will need to covert to a rifle forend. Which will require different wood , forend cap and hanger. Longer magazine tube if you want full length. The receiver will not take a blueing because of too much nickel content. Dura...

Get a home monitor device from your doctor. Not all sleep labs do have them , but because of high cost of a sleep study these are becoming more popular. Insurance will cover them. You just wear it for one night and return it. If it is real abnormal they will want you to come in for a full sleep study.

The problem I was trying to fix was the fact that I needed to squeeze the lever hard to disengage the lever safety. This was on a 94 in 307 Win, which needless to say I never found a magic load for. It never shot better than 2 MOA. Which is fine for deer hunting.

I fixed this by using a smaller diameter pin. I used the shank of a drill bit for a pin of the correct diameter. It was only a 1/64 smaller that the factory pin and it made all the difference.
