Re: New To Me Winchesters
Very nice Shrapnel, love the wood on that .32-40! I should probably spread my wings and trade a few of my .30-30s for other chamberings, but can't quite actually do it yet! :o Nice finds! But don't you think 32-40 a bit overkill for gophers? Some days you simply use the tool in hand! Can you t...

I've only owned one Blackhawk, a 4.625" old model in .357. I wasn't the handgunner I probably thought I was, but as I really only plinked at rocks & such out in the desert during my off-road forays exploring the CA desert, I can say it was minute of 3-4" rock at whatever distance I tho...

When firing black powder cartridge revolvers ,does the cylinder still get the burn rings around chamber mouths? By "burn ring", do you mean the circle of different coloring that coincides with the diameter of the back end of the barrel? Which I would debate as not so much a result of firi...

I've never been a fan of using a shotgun for indoor work... might be a holdover from my training officer in the 1970s, as he held they were too long to move effectively in clearing a house, as they require two hands to be effective. My 2 3rd Gen Colt SAAs are from the 1970s. The first one had an action job by Bob Munden in 1986. He polished the hammer/trigger interface, put in a wire trigger/bolt spring and put an hourglass shape to the mainspring (Look at Lee's Gunsmithing Kit), but not that drastic. What a world of difference...

The flame cutting was a problem created by people who did not understand what was going on and how it worked. It was a self-limiting issue that could only go so far.
