No clutch; it's a TH350, but hopefully it will still bring the frontend off at launch with a car under 2300 lbs. if I can get traction! Hey Chad! No bullet holes, and no room for shine. The trunk is full of Harwdood fuel cell and battery box, so no room for much more than a picnic basket! ;) Yep, th...

Been away from the forum for the last 5-6 months, as I have been starting a new project. I am scheduled to retire at Thanksgiving, and with the blessing of my lovely wife I purchased another hotrod project in June. This was supposed to be a "retirement gift/project, but like always I'm too impa...

Re: OT - Alternator question
Pulling the battery cable with a bad alternator will cause the car to die, and wont hurt an alternator that's already bad. But if the alternator is good, it can not only fry it if you're too slow or draw an arc reattaching the cable. It can also cause the regulator to go bananas and the voltage to g...

Re: smooth up a 336?
The 1893's and 93's were probably a little smoother when new, and with 100 yrs. of use they are usually glassy smooth if they're in good working order. The 336 can be helped emensely with just proper oiling with the right lube. The top of the hammer where the bolt rides over to cock the 336 is an ar...

Re: 1883 Burgess?
The Burgess was designed by Andrew Burgess, and built by Colt. It didn't last long as Winchester didn't like Colt going into the lever action business, and threatened to start building pistols, so Colt dropped it in short time.

Re: Colt Burgess levers: How does the action function?
The Colt Burgess is almost identical in it's workings to the 1881 Marlin, which also incorporated many of Andrew Burgess' patents. The sliding loading gate is typical Burgess, as is the tube feed design with it's scalloped edge where it meets the receiver. Of course the Colt Burgess is a later versi...

I'm ready to sell every 1881 in my collection if the prices you guys are quoting are true! I sure don't see prices anywhere near that, except for original 1881's in very minty condition. 1881's have traditionally gotten less than the 1895 Marlins, and rare ones will get slight premiums, but only in ...

There is no magic cure all that will accomplish what you're looking to do. Soft starts do ramp up slowly by either varying frequency, or voltage, but the result is they draw a little less current, but for a much longer period. We've tried to install soft starts on heavy generator loads, and the end ...
