Firearms should always be the last resort, there are plenty of things she needs to do to increase her safety and security, most of which have already been listed in this thread. I am very leery of anyone who is "blind" in any degree having a firearm and trying to use it in a stressful situ...

Down in Panama, it behooved one to walk in the street at 0200hrs after the NCO club closed. All kinds of snakes ruled terra firma after dark. The up side was zero stray cats, and no rats or mice problems. Most people that I recall were unable to walk after the NCO club closed at 0200. Never happene...

Sixgun, we shoot almost everything on a weekly basis. Our Friday morning shoots (Thursday this week only) are club shoots, not NRA. We shoot .22 lever gun, pistol caliber levergun and plinker silhouette shoulder to shoulder on the halfscale targets. Plinker silhouette is simply we let anyone shoot a...

Chilly day at the range
Over 30 geezers and geezerettes gathered at 0800 yesterday morning for our weekly Lever action silhouette shoot on the 1/2 scale targets. Temp at that time was 39 degrees, overcast and about 10-15 knots of wind from 2 or 3 oclock. So nasty and miserable that about a dozen of them turned around and w...

The "original" TC Contender frames were somewhat difficult to open and TC soon modified them by changing the location of the pivot pin. Wonder which model this will be?

I am not a member of the Tinfoil Hat Society, but things happen that make me think about joining. A couple of weeks ago I posted, on this board and two others , a thread about my interest in items in a 1908 Sears catalog. I recently scored a 1908 copy of the Sears Roebuck catalog from 1908, this is the 1970 reprint. Lots of fun reading , an insight into how people lived back then. If you lived in a small town or rural area that's how you got most of your supplies. Anyway, I got to looking at the guns and ammo. Marlin...

Went in there to get a prescription filled yesterday afternoon, while there I taxied by the sporting goods ammo counter, when I got there the cupboard was bare, not a centerfire handgun round or .223 to be had. I still have 4 of the Howell brand sad irons, my Mother used them into the 1950's, heated them on the old coal and wood stove.
In later years, she was fond of remarking that "the only thing good about the good old days is that they're gone. "
