Sure, they'll work. Since bullets meant for the .30-30 are generally constructed to expand at slower speeds than the .308 or .30-06 you may find that they tend to come apart on large game.

My .44 Spec and .45 LC lead bullet plinking loads all gain right around 200 fps when shot from a 20" barrel vs. 6" to 7.5" revolvers.

Through 54 years of hunting them I have seen several white but non-albino deer, and many, many piebalds. One corner of our county is noted for a high proportion of piebald. deer. Exactly once I have seen a true albino, killed by a friend's son.

I've cut a couple of big rubber bands from an old bicycle inner tube to do the job. These work well, are easy to remove when you don't need the ight, nothing scratched and no adhesive residue to clean off.

Yes, you can probably shim it enough to make it work. But the real solution is to get rid of the see-thru mount. They don't really allow you to use the scope or the sights very effectively.

I've owned two 94's of 1980's vintage and both required the lever be firmly squeezed to activate the trigger. I eventually got used to it, but it took a while, and neither rifle became a favorite of mine because of this "feature".
