Uhh..I'm pretty sure tha Shield has fewer parts than the 1911. This sounds like a manufacturing defect issue, not a parts count issue.

I'm not a LEO but I used to hunt with a fellow who had a pre 64 winchester '94. He claimed it used to belong to the county sheriff and had been put to its intended use at least once. It was a pretty gun and the story added to the mystique (even if it wasn't true).

He wrote a great book titled "Handgun Hunting", which included stories of AutoMags, Cap and Ball boar hunts, and a black bear hunt in Tellico with a pair of then new series 70's with Lee Jurras. Great book.

I would say its a bit too much but being from Texas and all...you need to get a Beadazzler and bling that thing out just a bit more, it's kind of subdued by Texican standards.
In all seriousness, I like it a lot and think it looks great.

I may have a chance to buy a Winchester M94 Wrangler in .44 Mag. If you are O.K. With a 5 shot snub, a 7+1 shot 9mm of essentially equal power with faster reloads should be a an EASY decision. For that matter, if you are O.K. With a 7+1 or 8+1 1911 in .45, a 7+1 9mm should be just fine for you too. I have a Shield and love it.

If you still like the idea of an autoloading pack rifle,, I would buy a 10-22 takedown, some Ruger 25 round mags, and take care with the scope mount. That combo is lighter and more packable than the folding abominations, and is typically more accurate than a standard 10-22 (hard to believe but true).

Trying to describe why the 10 is good to someone who doesn't have one is hard. It is a great round, every bit as versatile as the .357 but with a bigger/heavier projectile and more energy. If your hands fit the guns it is chambered in, there is no better choice for a do-it-all auto caliber. The 10mm...

While not for the purist, I'll say Ruger's plastic parts will likely outlast us all. They don't affect shape, form, function or accuracy. So I'm good with plastic.
