My thought, since I only hunt with lever action guns, there should be a lever action in every caliber.
Glad Henry is doing that. This fall will be the first time I hunt moose and bear with my Browning 300 Win Mag lever action.
Can't wait, anxious to see Henry's new gun.

Love to hear that story, so many younger hunters seem to think you need some kind of
magnum to kill large game with. 30-30s have killed more game than any other gun,
however the 44-40 might be in the running as well. Well done.

Remember this is Eugene Oregon I'm talking about, they quoted some new regulation that

I saw a youtube video on a moose hunt in the Yukon with a Buffalo Bore 190 gr. 30-30.
The shot was about 150 yards, one shot dead moose. I was impressed have wanted to
try one myself except my first moose shot was 270 yards, too far for the 30-30.

What is so surprising is that I had one years ago when they first came out and it did
not have this heavy pull. It never miss fired, I never gave it a thought. I think I will
call Smith and Wesson however, they surely must know about it by now .

Yes it is a Miroku gun, I have a couple other Miroku guns and they are very strong.
I just can't believe that was on the barrel and I didn't see it, would not have purchased
it. It's really puzzling to me.

The only black powder ammo I have made is for my 44-40 pistol and 1873 rifle.
I didn't notice any others listed on Gun Broker that designated them as Black Powder

I have a Winchester 1886 45-90, bought it new at Cabela's, actually a gift from my wife a few years ago. It's made in Japan of course but generally well built and very nice. I fired it a few times just to get the feel of it, some medium to heavy loads I made, I forgot what weight, but heavy bullets....

Yea that can't pack handgun thing in Canada is really crazy. My hunting guide is a timber cruiser when he isn't hunting. He isn't allowed to pack and a couple of summers ago he was attacked by a black bear. On the 3rd charge his dogs got into the middle of it and he was saved. All he had was an axe....

This will be my backup gun this fall for moose and bear. Happy to have a 300 Win Mag in lever action.

I've heard guys say they wouldn't want to shoot a grizzly with a 300 Win Mag, but would have
confidence with a 338 Win Mag, the bullet weight might be the same, or are they assuming
a heavier bullet with the 338 ?
