My .375H&H is a Ruger No.1 also.
I shoot the 375449, 264 gr bullet over a moderate charge of IMR4198, giving about 2000fps. It will put ten shots into one big hole at 50 yards.
The cast bullets are a lot less expensive than jacketed, even of you buy them.

Looks like a "Zulu". Made for the African trade in the 1800's.
They were made from odd bits, musket parts, and whatever could be trown together cheap as trade guns.

Anybody remember the old Remington pump rifles with the spiral grooved tube mags? IIRC, Models 14 and 141, in .25 and .30 Remington. They were made to shoot pointy bullets.
No reason that the same style magazine wouldn't work on a levergun.

I'm in with a pretty-near-new '94AE 30-30 that I picked up at a local gunshop for $200, the week before Winchester went toes up. It is a great 11th hour find and I won't let this one get away. :D

I don't see the point of doing this :? ? The .358 Win. cartridge is interesting both because of its' performance, and the fact that ammo is almost free, if you handload and cast your own bullets. Brass can be formed easily from .308 Win, which is so common as to be almost free. The .358 can be safe...

Don't overlook the older, steel framed Browning Lever Action.
I have one in .358 Win and it is quite a gun. It shoots cast bullets well and the action is like a Swiss watch. The .308 BLR is on my wish list.
