Re: hi, newbie with 50-100 ?
Speaking for myself, I would not want to shoot a 50 without a shotgun butt. I have a winchester 1895 carbine in 30-06 with the curved steel one ..... and it hurts to shoot. I have 7 other 30 -06 rifles and they are a pleasure. I like the shotgun butt and the marlin 50 has been fitted with a decelera...

I shoot 7 grains of unique with a 240 grain at times in cowboy action. It cronos 840fps out of my vaqueros with 4 5/8 barrels and 1060fps out of a 19 inch uberti 1866. I think you could expect about the same from a 20 inch rifle. Can't tell you how it works on game, but works fine on steel targets.

Re: REMINGTON 870: The rise and fall of an American icon
The last 870's I saw had gone to a plastic trigger guard and other 'cheapening' cuts. I was told if you wanted one made like a 80's or earlier 870 that you had to order a specific millitary/ law enforcement model. I have had 1 870 over the last 60 years. I do own an 11-48, 11-87 and SP-10 that all w...

Re: Duplicating Buffalo Bore loads
At what point does velocity and knock down power trump accuracy? I've never understood the many people I see attempting to wring out every bit of velocity and pressure a gun can handle? Especially so when a little less power is usually more accurate, and the game is just as dead when hit with it. A...

Henry's probably so popular for a couple of reasons. 1. They're interested in making guns. Their primary focus is not making shareholders a 10% return in a 2% economy. 2. They make really nice guns at reasonable prices. 3. Their customer service is terrific. They're interested in their customers an...
