Re: 400 yd off hand with the 71/84
I am with you Cash - best I have done with irons is with an 8mm Mauser with a point and a V. In the telescopic shot you can see Tutt's hit on the orange plate just below center at 400 yds. He and Jim managed to put two more shots just above after the picture. I am not sure which of them had the thir...

400 yd off hand with the 71/84
These two fellows both managed to hit a 400 yd steel plate within a few inches of center standing offhand while I was watching through a 25x spotting scope. Neat to see. On the right is CowboyTutt. I am sure that Tutt will be reporting later with more pics. Those 485 lead slugs really create a lead ...

I do it the same as you except, I use a gym bag with a back pack over it with a folded blanket inside the backpack - the blanket has an elk on it. I don't use anything except my shoulder on the back.

Jim Taylor had a chance to see a fellow hunter use the LeverEvolution ammo in the 45-70 in Africa on a number of different types of animals and was quite impressed. I will go with his report. I do know they are quite accurate in the calibers I have tested them in.

Nice shooting. We have a 400 target at the local range. There used to be a lady that came every Sunday with a scoped Winchester Model 70 308. She would hit a target just a bit larger than the milk jug until you were tired of watching her off the bench. Harder of course with open sights.

Love the 6mm Ruger - mine has almost 1500 rds through it and two antelope.
Also love the Model 7 mine shot about like yours until my wife and I bedded it. Now it is very accurate. Like what you have done with yours.

Great caliber. I have about 1000 rds though a Model 7 SS. All weights are quite accurate and H380 is the one powder that does the best with all of them but I have tried many other powders and loads. Lyman manual author found the same on powder.
