First of all, my lenses don't get real dirty. Every scope I own has lens covers in place unless it is being used in the field, so heavy dust deposits are never a problem. What little dirt gets picked up in the woods is easily removed with the Leupold Lenspen.

As-is, the dry-lubed bullets do fine at Cowboy-level velocities, 750-850 fps. I have found that they will also do well at velocities up to about 1200 fps if I add a thin coat of liquid Alox to them.

I have seen this phenomenon many times, in many different rifles/chamberings. The only explanation I can give is pretty rudimentary -- different loads cause different patterns of barrel vibration. If you've never seen slo-mo film of a rifle's barrel during firing, you'll be in for a shock when you d...

For a stock that is filthy, nasty, dirty I like warm water, Murphy Oil Soap, and a soft-bristle nylon scrub brush. Scrub, wipe off with an old towel. Repeat as many times as needed. This will not remove old finish, and the brief exposure to the water doesn't do any harm -- you're not letting it soak...
