Re: OT - Much too close for comfort...

You need to ask the neighbor file a formal complaint on the people from 911 until they get the system corrected. Your tax dollars that built the system entitle you to make them correct the computer until when you use it connects to the correct agency and do not settle for less. A letter to the edit...

Morris and his wife Ester went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, 'Ester, I'd like to ride in that helicopter. 'Esther always replied, 'I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars' One year Esther and Morris went to the fa...

Re: OT - Self defense handgun recommendation needed...

A lot of very good information has been given. Having run the range for a state police agency with both revolvers and semi autos I would recommend the revolver and the weight training. Start with a 22 in the model she likes the look of and let her work up to a .38 or .357 if she wants too. My wife ...

Re: OT - AR-15 can do it all...

Yep, used one of those AR type things years ago. It did everything. Everything but fire reliably. Finally tore the care head off leaving the rest of the case in the chamber. Oh what fun. Ended that particular set to using a 1911. Are you one of the guys who checked the yes box on the govt survey fo...

I am a mere novice in 1892s but they are my newest favorite firearm along with single actions with big bullets. Your information is greatly appreciated as I like to know as much as I can about my weapons.

Thanks for the article reprint I missed it. I do agree with his comments and wish others had the guts to stand up and say what they think with out being politically correct or worrying about it.

Re: OT- recommend cigar for beginner

I bought a box of Cohibas passing through London on the way over here and smoke about one a month to try to forget where I am. It is one of the few pleasures you get on some of the compounds here. I miss the good scotch that should go with it or at least a good cold beer. It does help me relax a li...

Consider on every 4th of July that approx 50,000 Americans died at Gettysburg ending on the third of July after a three day battle. We are in many different countries in the world in an attempt to protect our way of life and allow others to celebrate their independence. Happy 4th of July from the w...

Re: Is killing power quantifiable?

Very good information. I concur with the CNS (Central Nervous System) requirement for death. A living machine requires you to disconnect the electrical system (CNS), the Hydraulic system (Blood Loss), or break the frame (skeletal destruction) to immobilize (does not always kill). I prefer CNS which...

Guys before you let go with the nukes let me know so I can get out of here. We have all the weapons we could possibly use here, if you guys would be so kind as to take care of the politicians who have stopped the last two attempts we would finish the job.

Think I have a plan. I live in the country, and don't reload. Think I will go with a .30.30, then plan on finding a matching .357 down the road. Thanks for all the input. BTW, I defended the lever action to a friend who insisted I needed an AR,. AK, SKS, HK, or some other alphabet soup gun. Appreci...

"Lubriplate" white lithium grease at most auto shop or aircraft supplies stores.
It may be annoying to the uninitiated but if you jump in carrying everything you are going to get for a few weeks and every ounce makes a difference, it works just fine.

If I get to go back to Alaska to hunt something besides people, I would agree on the Wild West Co-Pilot, Rem 870 w/two barrels, Ruger 10-22 w/supressor, and 5 shot ruger .45 LC/454. and as much ammo as I could carry. Sorry about the can but I like quiet when I am only getting dinner.

Re: 'Ma Deuce' Days May be Numbered

Having see one of the weapons in trial the replacement is a great weapon but if it will ever actually replace the M-2 I have been using, from 1973 to present, will take years of the "BRASS" fighting about, even if they do decide to do it.

I will agree "I was in fear of my life" is the correct phrase. I don't think you can blame the SAS and get by with it there are mainly using 5.56 like the ones we are stuck with. I can't wait to see if they start banninig Bows.

"What we really need and deserve" is not what we get very often. I just hope they don't turn us into felons with the stroke of a pen. I would not like to think the years I have fought for others rights, have not been wasted defending mine.

We shot so many birds and pigions out of the barn, when I was a lot younger, the cats would follow us the 150 yards to the barn when we would leave the house with the air rifles.

Re: How hard should cast bullets be for hunting deer or elk?

I and friends have killed a lot of deer with lead balls in muzzle loaders and I have shot a few with cast bullets made of linotype. The best bet would probably be somewhere in the middle, keeping in mind it comes down to bullet placement.

Re: B. Dixon Ultra Long Range Event July 26-27th Update 6/22/08

The range is impressive, as for the FAL and M1A there is a reason there were 1000 yard matches on military bases. But the steel targets would make it a lot more fun than shooting paper with no time in the pits.
