What is the DA trigger pull weight that she couldnt pull? A decent action job can do wonders for DA trigger pulls. many throw springs in it and call it good, but that can effect reliable ignition. A true action job makes everything work easier without reducing the spring strength, at least not much....

I've heard for years that it draws water from the garment, and it breaks up the outline of the body, camoflage so to speak. I don't know about the first, but I believe it does break up the outline somewhat. It definately does look good.

Well, I left something out. Many old timers didnt know that there was a way to adjust the play when they got loose. Glad you survived that.


I recall reading that a Doctor (I believe in Wyoming) wrote that he had treated a fair number of gunshot wounds with the new 30 cal Winchester 1894 round within a couple years of it coming out. Apparently it wasn't instantly fatal in all cases either.

What caliber gun sheared the screws?

Was this the model that uses the receiver sight holes?

I've wondered in the past if it would be worthwhile to have the receiver sight screwholes enlarged to the next size up. Would let you torque it a little better.

Two holes on the tang a half inch apart? That doesnt sound right for the normal tang sights used on lever guns, there should be one hole just behind the hammer, and the rear tang sight mounting hole is the stock screw.

I believe that is correct, unless they made some commemorative version after that point. I believe all the octagon rilfes were made in 1986, other than the Forest Service commemorative guns.
