Your competitive shooter who use 'race guns' usually have several. A match gun and a back up. Sometimes a 3rd practice gun. It is not uncommon to have links bend, rockers break or other usage related problems. I shoot a factory uberti 66 and a marlin 94 that I changed the springs in, added a happy t...

If you want a marlin in 50 caliber, the 50 alaskan will work as long as you handload it sanely.
500 sw .500 diameter
.510 ak .510 diameter .348 winchester opened up to .510
I shoot 535 grain woodleighs or 500 grain cast in mine. Rolls bears like groundhogs!

In my black powder shotshells, I have used a cotton ball or piece of a cotton ball to adjust the height of the powder column and also in the shot cup to reduce the shot charge. Basically, I make a 3 1/2 inch 10 gauge into a 2 3/4 12 gauge load using black and 1 ounce of shot. Cas black powder class.

Don't forget to look at a Turnbull 1886. The price differental is worth the upgrade in quality. You dont have to get 45/70. You can go 45/90, 50/110 or 470 Turnbull too.
