I thank God I do not have to put in hay anymore! Growing up, there were several weekends a year with the fully loaded semi's rolling in. We fed 10,000 bales a year on the farm and I handled each bale a minimum of 4 times !!

I was lucky enough to find a 307 big bore several years ago. I bought 300 307 cases right off. I've never tried 308 cases in it. I know I would not want to use 308 ammo though   !! I hope to keep enough cases around so I never have to worry about shortages! It has not been getting any ...

I have an early 50's 760 30-06 plus a 7400 in 35 whelen. Both guns shoot as good (probably more accurately) than any of the lever actions I own. The big advantage I see is the ability to use 'pointy' bullets, thus getting better long range performance. I magazines are definately more difficult to de...

Your logic and math are correct, this is a safe way to proceed. In my experience, I would stay with H4831. It shoots better in my 30-06's ( I have 6) than Reloader 19.

I bought an XLR last year and took 2 deer with it to 'break it in'. the gun is very, very accurate shooting 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups with factory ammo all day long. the only way to match the factory velocity of 2600 fps is to go with 150's. the 170's shoot about 1 inch in my rifle, but they are slow. If they are willing to do as Browning/ Winchester/ Mikouru do and offer a high quality product at a high price I believe they would do well. I used mine squirrel hunting and it works very well with #6 shot. I bought a case of AA's with 9 shot and tried a round of trap with them. Long story short, clays with a pellet hole or two that did not break. So, its larger shot for the 410 for me.

Mike, the reason that Turnbull has 2 .475 rounds has to do with the length limitations on the Marlin action. The winchester shoots the .475 Turnbull and it is a fulll length case. The Marlin will cycle only a 2.55 loaded case from the factory. There is a bit of room to lengthen the case a bit, someo...

The timber carbine is very, very nice handling. Mine has the butt ugly winchester crossbolt. I think there were also some 94 big bores in 444 with a longer barrel. These would have a tang safety. There were never any made without some type of add on.

I have several boxes of the Barnes originals in 250 grains. I keep them for use on heavy game generally for use in a 300 H+H or 300 Remington Utla mag. But, I think they would penetrate well in the 06 and expand well at ranges to 150 yards.
