Re: Anyone else here feeding hummers?

Ironwood, Thanks for your pics and congrats on the rufus. Spend some time in the end of Oklahoma panhandle so I get to see them quite a lot but seldom here. I've noticed the rufus males seem more aggressive than the ruby throat ones who are pretty bad themselves. They mate and nest here so I get to ...

You can get the components from Granger to hook up a very accurate thermostat that will keep the pot within +/- 2 degrees. I have a hundred pound pot I need to rework to that configuration. It is one that goes on a Magma casting machine.

I find that if you look a little you can find what you want on the net with free shipping. Have even bought a couple of batteries that way and the only thing I can think of that is heavier, (denser) would be gold bars.

Re: Opinions requested 50-100-450 barrel length for hunting

When I bought my old (1916) 86/45-90, I thought it would need to be re-barreled but a good cleaning, some shooting and lots of JB bore cleaner and it is just fine with gas checked bullets. It's 26 inch full octagon/full magazine and I really like it. Killed a couple of whitetails with it last year. ...

Try calling Hogdon with the lot no. on the sticker. Maybe they'll want a sample but they will help. They have been very good to help me in the past, even sent them some loaded rounds for testing and received a return phone call about the results and their suggestions.

Since everyone has trouble with the base-pin walking out unless the retainer is very tight the idea of changing cylinders is not going to work. Black powder loads make more heat than smokeless. The "crayola" lube that most cast bullet makers use just won't cut the extra heat. Also, there must be sufficient lube to make it to the end of your barrel. SPG is the black powder shooter's lube of choice but you can make your own. I use t...
