Sorry to hear that. Big fan of the 71. The Browning.308lightweight is the same length and weight as a model 94 Winchester. An excellent replacement. The .356WCF is the 348's ballistic twin, when both are fired thru 20" barrels. The Bigbore 94.356 is another option , scoped or peep sighted.

I have been reading and listening to this debate over handgun stopping power for over 50 years. I am no gun fight expert, but I have shot a lot, hunted a lot, and have an engineer's approach to data analysis. These are the questions and conclusions I would like to ask/add: 1. I have no faith in han...

Gun writers build stories around the justification to sell a new gun or caliber cause the one you got ain't up to the job. Remember in the 70's when the writer's were killing elephants with .44 mag handguns. The next month, they were telling you that your 30-30 rifle was too light for elk. Too many ...

Re: Marlin .30-30
Since the Mossberg was mentioned, I'll make a single observation on it versus the 336 marlin. My one complaint concerning the Mossberg was the grip safety. It had a very organic, spongy feel to it that made it hard to discern properly engagement short of chocking the lever down. Contrast this to ev...

I'd go with either the Winchester or the Mossberg rip off. Marlins are too heavy and the stocks are too clunky. My 86 Browning SRC isn't much heavier and it's a 45-70.
