a 3 inch nickel plated smith and wesson 29 in 44 magnum with 180 grain Federal Ammo .... concealed. If I am open carrying in the outdoors... a 6.5 inch 500 SW with 275 grain Barnes XTP bullets at 2000fps.

I bought a norinco coach gun with hammers. I use it for CAS and sometimes as a field gun. I looked at the CZ, but I did not like the weight. Felt more like 9 pounds than 7. My norinco goes about 6.5 pounds.

I use the standard 230 grain bullet... lead rn, jacketed rn or xtp at 850fps. If I need more gun, I have a 3 inch SW 44 mag.

If you want a marlin in 50 caliber, the 50 alaskan will work as long as you handload it sanely.
500 sw .500 diameter
.510 ak .510 diameter .348 winchester opened up to .510

I shoot 535 grain woodleighs or 500 grain cast in mine. Rolls bears like groundhogs! :shock:

Yea, but he is not talking changing to a 45/70. He has a 450 alaskan that is based on a 348 case not the 45/70 case that has a smaller rim and a different body diameter. My best advice would be to have a professional gunsmith who does these conversions troubleshoot it. It is possible to fix it yours...

Assuming the loads are heavy enough to cyclevthe action, it ought to work great. It is recoil operated instead of gas operatedcso, my thinking more dependable than gas operated designs because no port to foul.

No, not crazy but a way to practically defeat your concealed carry option. Next will be a law you must have liability insurance and with none available, yoù have been disarmed even if you have a permit.

My one experience was going in for shotshells on sale at a low price. I bought several boxes and did not find out until later that the boxes they sold contained only 20 instead of 25 shotshells. As far as I am concerned, the name suits them.

In my black powder shotshells, I have used a cotton ball or piece of a cotton ball to adjust the height of the powder column and also in the shot cup to reduce the shot charge. Basically, I make a 3 1/2 inch 10 gauge into a 2 3/4 12 gauge load using black and 1 ounce of shot. Cas black powder class.

Those 2 are like .38 S&W compared to .38 Special and your .500 is a .38 +p compared to the 50 Alaskan and modern 50-110 which is a .357 mag.

Don't forget to look at a Turnbull 1886. The price differental is worth the upgrade in quality. You dont have to get 45/70. You can go 45/90, 50/110 or 470 Turnbull too.

No clue from me, but I do know I have been using mine several days a week for over 10 years and it still looks great and shows no wear other than where the buckle. Touches the leather around the belt hole.

Check Buffalo Arms in Montana. I have been using a canvas belt for years from them. Mine is10ga.shotshells, but they have a Mills Belt also.

Stay with the 265 rn, it is.a beter performiñg bullet anyway. The only thing the gummie grenade offers is a flatter traqectory. The blow up too easy for my taste.

Sounds like a marl7n in 35 remington might work. CDNN did have some 1886 trappers in 45/70. The short barrel and 1/2 magazine would make then lighter. If you dont mind spending money, but a turnbull marlin in 475 turnbull. Doug has killed elephants with that cartridge.

I have one with a 24xx serial number. Bought new by my grandfather, my father, brother, sister and myself learned to shoot with it. Still take it out from time to time. Still works great.
