Re: Wet tumbling
I'm using a Frankfort Arsenal "Platinum" tumbler I got on sale from Midway earlier this year. To date my best results are with the Hornady One Shot Sonic Cleaner solution. I am letting it run for the full 3 hours available on the timer. I believe, given the shine I'm getting, I could proba...

Gunnymack, Here's the before and after pictures of the load of various 45 caliber brass I just took out of the tumbler. If you expand the photo you should be able to see inside quite a few cases and into primer pockets on others. DSCN1561[1].JPG DSCN1562[1].JPG There are both brass and a few nickel ...

I hunt with a pair of Cabela's 10x25 that I bought some 40 years ago. They stay with me nearly all the time. I'm sure there's better glass today... but these still do the job. I never researched who they were actually made by, but whoever it was, they're still great.

Re: Wet tumbling
WOW! I might have to look into getting a wet tumbler. My worst gun for making brass look dirty is my 257 AI. One firing and they look like they have been neglected for years. My worst are of my 45 Colt rifles. They get a lot of blowby as my SASS loads definitely on the light side. I use 6 grains of...

Wet tumbling
A guy over on the SASS Wire posted about his results wet tumbling with Hornady's Sonic Cleaner. So I tried it today. Decapped my brass last night and tumbled the brass in the solution for 3 hours. Looks better'n new brass, inside, outside, and in the primer pockets.

Well, I'm going to overstamp it to a #3... Less confusing to me! Thanks. I don't like things that are not marked with the maker... Thanks... I have two RCBS #2s and at least 1 or more #3s, so this one doesn't need being the oddball out.

Queston about Shell Holders
I recently went out to the shop and picked up one of my #2 shell holders to deprime a bunch of .32-40 & .30-30 cases I recently fired during a range trip. Imagine my surprise when neither size case didn't fit. I believe I recently purchased it (still appears quite new), but isn't marked RCBS whi...

With 6 1911s, plus a Commander, I'm not exactly shy about them, and probably shoot them almost as well as any of my other handguns. When I was a deputy in CA we could fire one round of PPC for practice every day. I admit, I didn't, but did shoot at least 3, sometimes 4 days a week. Actually, we coul...

I'm guessing your target camera is a good addition to your shooting bag! I can't recommend them highly enough. My first car was a heavily used Mustang Mach 1 that I bought for $600. :D That engine was incredible. Of course it sucked gas like there was no tomorrow, and I was trying to fill it during the oil embargo of the '70's making barely $2/hr. I swear the gas gauge fell if I even looked at the gas pedal...

OK .. thanks. I will dig out the chronograph and see. The 160 gr. Speer jacketed SWC with 7.5 gr. of Unique was about 1150 fps and the jacketed bullet produced a lot more friction than the cast bullet. Seating depth also affects things. east of Dallas we got a few sprinkles while I was at the range, not even enough to dampen the targets. Roads were wet on the way back, but our dirt road showed nary a drop and the little farm is dry as a bone. Need a little if I'm to mow at least once more before the grass goes dormant.
