Re: Charter Arms BullDog
I believe Charter Arms has changed ownership several times over the years. I had a couple of the original 1970's guns and they were o.k. guns for the price. I owned a later stainless Bulldog that was pure junk. After buying my junk I found an article in Guntest where they also found the then current...

The supply has increased, but a lot of dealer are still trying to pretend it hasn't! I'm finding the distributors have them, but some of the dealers are still trying to get scalpers prices out of them.

I agree the dealer was wrong. If he quoted $25.00 for a transfer, he should stick to it. At best he should have told that he misunderstood what you were doing and would have to charge more for similar transactions in the future. In my opinion, the bad PR he'll receive (even locally) doesn't warrant ...

Unless the rifle is a dedicated target rifle for shooting at a fixed distance, I'd go variable all the way. I carry a stainless Single-Six when I run my traps. I've fired a number of them over the years. Most were only plinking accurate, but a friend of mine once owned one that would shoot with most good automatics. I just about cried when I found out he's sold it without checking with me first.

Either rifle would do the job. From a collecting standpoint I agree with McNutjob, but from a hunting standpoint I'd go with the 444. The 444 would make a fine combination woods deer and bear rifle.
