homefront,I carry a Colt SAA 5 1/2 inch .45 in a Mernickle PS6A. It carries high and feels real good. I am new at posting pictures and will try to put a couple on,it is the plain version of the one you posted.

Homefront,thank God that have a church family to carry you through. Six months or five years,it's still the same.We lost a grown daughter five years ago and most of our church family was with us day and nite for as long as we needed them. You have prayer for you here too.

I bought my Colt .45 in 1959 and i do love that gun. In 1984 I bought a gun from my friend, a Charter Arms Target Bulldog with a four inch barrel in .44 special. It is special,6.1 grains of Unique and 240 grain cast and I can get good groups offhand most any day at 100 yards, not bad for an old man.

Junior,you could probably use flat black BBQ grill paint. I have done a couple of old grills and they set out in the weather and still look good.

I don't think you will have any trouble with standard .45 Colt loads.I have used the 255gr.semi-wadcutter with Unique and it will make you a good load.

I started loading for my Colt .45 in 1960,the folks at the gunshop told me to use Unique. In 1963 I bought a Speer loading manual and it says that "Unique is the only powder that we recomend".I have never used another powder to load the .45Long Colt.

Blackhawk, I have no doubt that with some good practice time you can hit the 100 yard block easy. You don't need a heavy load to do it either.I load 7.8 grains of Unique with a 255gr semi-wadcutter and I can hit at 100 yards consistently. Is it a carbine or rifle?If it is nice I would jump on it quick. I have a 92 rifle in 32-20 made in 1917, bought it from an uncle in early 1950's.They are slick shooting and don't cost alot to reload.I think Kirk has got some good 25-20 loads worked up, as some others here have.
