sounds like quite a boy. hope he continues his scouting career, most troops need all the new blood they can get. my son is a life scout due to eagle in about a year[15 y/o] if he stays on track. we are always looking for new boys, some feel it's not cool or the like. i think they learn valuable life...

depending on condition both prices could be right. when you say 30us i assume you mean model of 1906? there are two 95s at a local pawn establishment that are marked 30us model of 1903 which i assume means 30-03 forerunner of the 30-06. been on his rack for YEARS, the tags read 30-06, now read 30-40...

i agree with pepe ray, no power tools. i usually start with a spokeshave, then a rasp,file,scrapers, sand paper if needed.
the finish will be better if you can end with a scraper.

well the other fella is one that money is allergic to. spends faster than makes. i did the trade to help him out. i'll make the best of it. he knows, but could not make it right if he wanted to. my own fault for not catching the damage anyway,caveat emptor ya know.

oh man that was a long time ago, i can't remember what i had for breakfast. i guess it was,[like so many others] a red rider only we would run out of bbs, and on the old style guns you could pull the guts out of the barrel, jam the muzzle in the ground and shoot dirt clods at each other. my sons new...

ot-got beat in a trade

among some guns i took in on a trade awhile back, was a smith model 66-2. i didn't notice at first but the frame is cracked below the barrel threads. i will be parting it out soon to try and recover some $$$. if anybody is interested i'll post it in classifieds.

in that serial range the barrel should have the pw in oval proof ahead of receiver ring also.

the front sight dovetail should be 1 1/16" from muzzle.the rear sight dovetail should be 4 23/32" from the receiver. the barrel address should read, manufactured by the winchester repeating arms co. -new haven, conn.u.s.a.pat.aug.21.1894- ahead of receiver on the left side of barrel should...

you might want to loa up a few and try them in your rifles chamber, both of mine will feed .375 jackets but not 379 cast.

it's a 30wcf. dob, is a little difficult to say the receiver is 1898, barrel 1920's cut to 22', mag tube newish w/flat plug, the stocks seem old with someone's home checkering but who knows. the front sight dovetail was cut crooked, and the rear is the marbles w outside elevator. she's just a franke...

i have seen threads here from folks wondering where they might find parts for this or that, i've never seen anyone recommend dixie gun works. their catalog has got to be one of the best reference books around. i have more fun reading it than most books i have. now they are pretty heavy on frontstuff...
