"Much ado about nothing"... A .243 barrel will last at least 2,000 rounds, providing you don't shoot it fast and hot. After than install a new barrel. Barrels that are not abused are seldom shot out. Barrels are cheap compared to the cost of ammo/components it takes to wash tme out. Spend ...

You did better than OK. I paid $500.00 for my 1963 Mod. 88 ( also a .308) three years ago. Throw in the great old Redfield scope on yours, plus the extra clip and you got it for half of fair market value. That ain't no cheap scope, it is a Denver made Redfield. Much better than a WEaver. Good on you...

The meaning of the great majority becomes clear with diligent study. Amen... With those parameters, 100% of the Bible is clear. All of the material was written with the intent it be understood by the original readers/hearers. It is the gulf in time, history and culture that makes parts of it crypti...

" The vast number of texts that have come to light over the past 400 years are amazing. The Bible continues to be the best documented ancient text on earth - by a HUGE margin. The reason folks question it and try to find fault with it is that if it IS true it demands a response from us. So folk...

No.. It is not really "textual criticism". Textual criticism and it's various incarnations like "form criticism" attempt to use the form/literary/writing style of the text to break the code of who wrote it and why. The notion of textual criticism is not bad in and of itself, but ...

KJV is textually beautiful, but it's really a poor translation ... it's really more of a transliteration - and closer to a paraphrase in some cases. The difference between 1611 and 2008 English aside, the KJV is really an excellent translation of some very poor manuscripts. The old Greek texts we ha...

In my personal experience I know of two folks who were killed graveyard dead with one shot from a 25 ACP. The first was a Deputy Sheriff carrying a 45 Auto. He was shot in the back of the head at the base of the skull by his wife as he was going out the front door. The range was less than one foot. ...

It is always a good and laudatory thing to reach and goal and the reading of scripture is very good goal. I have read the Bible "qiver to qiver" several times, in English and Spanish. I have read the New Testament material scores of times. Now here is the "question of application"...

While I agree these "sex stings" are a very poor use of public funds and police time, none-the-less there was a crime committed. If you haul our your willie and do a show and tell in a public place, you have committed a crime. This is not a two consenting adults in the privacy of their bed...

The test for entrapment is, in whose mind did the crime originate? It is not entrapment to give a criminal an opportunity to commit a crime, but it is entrapment if the crime would not have been committed but for the police activity in planting the idea. The whole things is very subjective and that ...

Include me among those who don't buy into detonation. I recall when a fellow took his sixgun apart some years back with the famous 2.7/BE and a full wadcutter bullet (38 Special), there was panic despite millions of this load had been used for generations by Bulleye Target Shooters. The American Rif...

I have drilled and tapped quite a few firearms over the years and here are my thoughts on the subject at hand. 1) I agree a nail set is not the proper tool. A center punch is the proper tool. 2) A set of center drill can be purchased on the cheap and does a great job of spoting the hole, without the...

Like Hobie I like my 1911s simple and as close to the original 1911 A1 as possible, but with good sights and a decent trigger pull. On my Norincos I added King Harball sights and touched up the trigger. On the Colt, I swaped the flat nylon mainspring housing for a arched steel one. I also installed ...

A couple of years back, I bought a new Springfield GI, but was never really happy with it. The first couple of times I shot it, the surface finish (Parkerized) on the contact surfaces came off like grit and tied up the pistol. After a couple of hundred rounds, this went away and the pistol was very ...

Here are pics of both the deer and the rifle. The deer has been eaten, the 1956 Mercury went to the crusher long ago, and I still have the rifle. The year was 1959. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d98/CharlesG_/DeerCamp1961HuntTexasNo2.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d98/CharlesG_/Krag11.jpg
