Re: When you were a kid..........

I never really had my own rifle as a kid, but my dad had a collection of several sem-auto and bolt action German rifles he brought with him when he came over from Holland. The first time I shot them I was about six years old. Aside from those my brother and I jointly owned a Crossman CO2 pistol. I r...

Re: So hows your weather?

As of this post I'm sitting at the Fifth Wheel Truckstop in Milton, Ontario (Great White North) and the thermometer on my Kenworth is indicating 5°F with winds strong enough to be rocking my rig. At this time last week I was in Nogales, Arizona where the temps were in the 70's.

Re: Laid Off? Need work? Post it here and lets network!

Tanker Yankers with winter and mountain expereince who would wish to relocate for a while will find themselves in demand here in the Arctic. The pay is remarkably good right now. The fuel haul to Prudhoe is pulling drivers from the general freight pool so that market is opening up also. Good place ...

I bought a Marlin .30-30 last week. Paid $370 new. It's got the gold trigger as well. Not sure what's up with that.

Re: Finally I'm officially a Levergunner

Congratulations !!! Excellent choice of lever and caliber to cut your teeth on. You'll never need another, but you'll definitely be wanting/buying more, and there's nothing you can do about it :D Enjoy the ride. I know, I know. They had another Marlin in .45-70 and .308... I have FRN's to burn befo...

Re: Finally I'm officially a Levergunner

Thanks guys and gals. Primary purpose of this gun is to perforate cans and paper. I admit that I've never been a hunter and don't forsee this changing anytime soon unless a "politician" season is instituted.

Re: Laid Off? Need work? Post it here and lets network!

Another idea. The larger trucking compainies are always hiring and many will train. It's a tough job. Especially being away from home so much but it's something to think about. jb 8) I'm a driver for Conway Freight based in Joplin, MO. I've been driving since 2002 and can attest that OTR (over the ...

Finally I'm officially a Levergunner

This morning I had the opportunity to stop in OKC and purchase a new Marlin Thutty-thutty lever. This is my first lever action and officially can call myself a levergunner.

Re: DETROIT POLICE PLAN 'GUN BURN'

If the HPD was smart they would sell the more valuable specimens at auction to law abiding citizens but feel HPD thinks law abiding people don't own guns. It's apparent that most big city PD's and the politicians pulling the strings behind them don't believe that anybody should own a firearm but th...

Actually, I would not mind if Wal-mart quit the gun business all together. It is running the small shop owner out of business. True. I have nothing against WM but I try to make it a point to shop for just about everything I purchase at the small mom & pop places simply because those business ow...

Personally I'm in favor of getting rid of the Executive branch and getting the Legislative branch to actually listen to the people. And place term limits on the Judicial branch to make them accountable. As I get closer to finishing my read of The Anti-Federalist Papers it's almost haunting to see th...

If you guys who drive trucks would all park up for one day and not buy any fuel, maybe the price of it would come down. Possibly even park up loaded one day, you could bring the country to it's knees and gas/diesel prices down. Unfortunately that isn't likely to happen. Higher prices are forcing in...

I don't think that the eventual ruling will be what we want it to be... a complete affirmation that we view the 2nd Amendment as the right to bear arms. I'm currently reading The Anti-Federalist Papers put out by Signet. It appears from just what little I've read that the fears the Anti-Federalists ...

One thing I haven't heard mention of anywhere is the date the 2nd Amendment was ratified: December 15, 1791. The Militia Act of 1792 was passed by Congress May 2, 1792. Using some logic it would be reasonable to believe that citizens already had the individual right to bear arms and join militias (o...

As my first post I live by this credo - Less is more. I'm not a gun enthusiast like most members on this forum, though I've been a gun owner for over twenty plus years. When I was in the military I was keen for black rifles. Now that I'm getting older I've developed an interest in leveractions. Semi...
